Hi. Can you help me re-rate the article?

Thanks,
Samantha Lim88 06:26, 17 October 2007 (UTC)

I feel that the article has improved since last time but it should still be approximately B-class or maybe even still a start, depending on how good the article's coverage is. I will try to read it in more detail later. Thanks, GDonato (talk) 19:22, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
Okay, thanks! ^_^

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Aliens-in-america.png

Thanks for uploading Image:Aliens-in-america.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 04:42, 27 October 2007 (UTC)

List of anarchist musicians

Thanks for your work closing deletion debates. I have queried the List of anarchist musicians decision because I don't think the keep voters managed to provide arguments against the reasons for deletion. About image deletion

Sir or madam, I notice that you have deleted this image which was uploaded by me, even after I had added {{Non-free media rationale}}, would you please tell me what I had done wrong? Thank you! Talk to ► Kevin 14:56, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

The rationale was invalid because it missed out the article name (see WP:NONFREE) I am happy to restore it if you tell me which article it is to go in. GDonato (talk) 16:00, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
Oh, that's my fault! The article is "Japan Entertainment Television". Talk to ► Kevin 16:41, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

Wallowing in my RfA: This time it's personal...
My sincere thanks for your support in my request for adminship, which ended with 51 supports, 0 opposes, and 0 neutral. Doubtless it was an error to put one of the government-bred race of pigmen in any position of authority, but I hope your confidence in me proves justified. Even a man pure of heart and who says his prayers at night can become a were-boar when the moon is full and sweet. Fortunately, I'm neither a were-pig nor pure of heart so this doesn't appear to be an imminent danger to Wikipedia for the moment. Fortunate as well because were-pig hooves are hell on keyboards and none too dexterous with computer mice. If ever I should offend, act uncivil, misstep, overstep, annoy, violate policy, or attempt to topple the fascist leadership of Wikipedia, please let me know so I can improve my behaviour and/or my aim. I am not an animal; I am an admin. And, of course, if there is any way in which I can help you on Wikipedia, please do not hesitate to ask me. Despite my japes, I am indeed dedicated to protecting and serving Wikipedia to the best of my foppish and impudent abilities. I will strive to be an admirable admin, shiny and cool, reasonable and beatific. Pigmanwhat?/trail 05:41, 8 November 2007 (UTC)
Post Scriptum: I believe my collaged graphic at left, which incorporates the WP globe and mop image, falls under the rubric of parody for my purposes here. Or is it satire? Regardless, it's a legitimate and legally protected First Amendment usage under US law. Complaints and allegations that this is an improper "fair use" image will be entertained on my talk page, probably with fruit juice, finger food and exotic coffees.
I'm not usually much of a fan of these, but that is good. Best of luck, Pigman. GDonato (talk) 18:20, 8 November 2007 (UTC)

Disagree on the deletion reasons

Thanks for your efforts to keep wiki more useful. I did not have any non-free content / images on my page User:Pinecar/sandbox/Universities. I wish, you deleted the source of the specific university page that you felt was offending - instead of my sandbox area. Pinecar (talk) —Preceding comment was added at 06:21, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for your reply. You did have non-free content on the sandbox page (Image:MIT Seal.png, Image:CardSeal-1.gif, Image:Hmc seal.png) and others. This content is not allowed outwith the mainspace (articles) per WP:FAIRUSE. I have no intention of deleting the university pages as they are mainspace. Thanks, GDonato (talk) 16:18, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

Apologies

Admining at this time of night is never a good idea and you have my sincere apologies for the incorrect block placed on your account by myself. Please feel free to trout as necessary. Regards, GDonato (talk) 00:39, 1 December 2007 (UTC)

I didn't even notice... so no problem. Page moves are a bit hard to mentally process, and that's why you blocked me, right? No problem :) Gscshoyru 00:42, 1 December 2007 (UTC)
Well, the page move was flagged as a possible page-move vandalism on IRC (although it was a repair) and I saw the page name (i.e. the bad one) and confused the destination with the original page which is how I ended up making the block. I notice this is the third accidental block on your account, which is pretty unlucky. ;) GDonato (talk) 00:46, 1 December 2007 (UTC)
It's 'cause of what I do here. The fact that I do it often enough to be accidental-blocked three times means I'm doing some good work, I hope :) Gscshoyru 00:48, 1 December 2007 (UTC)
It certainly does! GDonato (talk) 00:49, 1 December 2007 (UTC)

Deleted Image

You deleted the image Image:1970 SimpsonsSears Logo.gif some time ago for lacking FU and other details. I remember the image and have been unable to find it on the net, so I was wondering if you could undelete it to let me fill in where the original uploader failed to do his job and put the FU inof in. I'll watch here. Thanks. Mbisanz (talk) 16:24, 6 December 2007 (UTC)

(copied)Image:1970 SimpsonsSears Logo.gif has been restored as you requested. Please add the source information, if possible. Otherwise, the image will be deleted around the 14th December. Thanks, GDonato (talk) 16:49, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
Thank you. I've contacted the original author, since it seems that few if any of his uploads use a specific source. "The source is not specified for this particular rationale, but it is believed that the logo may be obtained from Peebles (store)." isn't an acceptable source format is it? Mbisanz (talk) 17:10, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
No it is not, and also this image will have to be included in a article since it is fair use. If you have any other problems, just ask. Other unsourced images can be tagged with {{di-no source}}. Thanks, GDonato (talk) 17:17, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
Could you let the user who uploded this image, Caldorwards4, know about the source issue. I think that is the source label he's used for all his uploads, which could be a problem since they are good images. Mbisanz (talk) 17:24, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
Yep, done. Some of them look OK. Thanks, GDonato (talk) 18:45, 7 December 2007 (UTC)

Darkwave or something

Per WP:RFPP, I think that we need to consider a rangeblock (potentially very troublesome) or semi-protection for the articles. I've semid some, as I think it's a better idea than a large rangeblock! Chase me ladies, I'm the Cavalry (talk) 16:49, 13 December 2007 (UTC)

I was thinking a rangeblock personally, as they could spread beyond these pages. GDonato (talk) 16:58, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
I think the relevant block would be 87.122.0.0/18 for ~48hours to a week. GDonato (talk) 17:07, 13 December 2007 (UTC)

SemiProtect Request: It's more than just an edit war

The pages Dark Wave, Neoclassical (Dark Wave), and Blutengel are experienceing more than an just an edit war. As I said these 87.122 are sockpuppets of user:Breathtaker. He is engaging in massive 3rr violations which equals vandalism. This is a sockpuppeteer with rampant activity... he won't stop. The pages Gothic Rock, Cruxshadows, and The Birthday Massacre have already been semi protected because of this guys rampant vandalism so why should these pages be any different. I didn't someto the request for semiprotection board until after he violated 3rr, 4rr, 5rr, I think all the way up to 10rr violations on some of these pages.--Dr who1975 (talk) 16:52, 13 December 2007 (UTC)

On it, looking at whether protection or blocking would be more appropriate. GDonato (talk) 16:56, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
OK...2 of the pages have been semi-protected but Neoclassical (Dark Wave) is still open. Maybe a block on the 87.122 root of the IPswould be more apropriate.--Dr who1975 (talk) 17:33, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
Under consideration, I will put here if any further protection or blocks are used. :) GDonato (talk) 17:35, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
See the message on your page. GDonato (talk) 17:58, 13 December 2007 (UTC)

I don't think he violated 3rr. Looking at WP:3RR: the rule applies to undoing the actions of another editor 3 times. Jack was undoing the edits of a anonymous IP... not an editor.--Dr who1975 (talk) 17:38, 13 December 2007 (UTC)

Firstly, I did not say he violated 3RR, I said he could potentially violate if he was not careful. Secondly, for the purposes of 3RR IP edits are very much included. Cheers, GDonato (talk) 17:48, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
ok.--Dr who1975 (talk) 18:07, 13 December 2007 (UTC)

Hi; I wanted to move Palestinian cinema to Cinema of Palestine, to get it in line with all the other "Cinema of---" articles. Unfortunately, I really messed up, and moved it to Cinema of Palestinian, (ugh..) instead! Now; when I try to move it onto Cinema of Palestine I cannot do so, as I get the message "The page could not be moved: a page of that name already exists, or the name you have chosen is not valid.". IRC

I think your observations on the evidence page of the IRC arbitration are spot on. As for access, I don't think there's a good long term solution. Any page on English Wikipedia (including the Requests for adminship page) that mentions the admins channel is likely to be a focus for discord. We could set up a mail queue for access requests, but putting anything about that list on wiki would invite further trolling. Perhaps the arbitration committee will identify that trolling as the major problem here, or perhaps it will go back to treating IRC as the problem. --Tony Sidaway 13:20, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for your comments, I do believe that trolling has been an issue here but I don't think ArbCom will address this as it should (page bans, topic bans). I would have attempted to get more involved in sorting WEA out had the dispute not occurred primarily over the Christmas period and I had another on-wiki issue to deal with. GDonato (talk) 13:28, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
I think deleting and salting will resolve the issue with the page, but that's within the purview of the community and not something that would typically be ordered by arbcom. There is already a page on meta about various IRC channels and in all honesty I don't think that is ever likely to attract as much controversy. It seems to be a strictly local matter.
The ongoing behavioral problems have been noted by arbcom in a very recent case, and I would be surprised if they weren't addressed as a more pressing issue here. Even if it had contained an element of truth, the allegation in the edit which you cite in your evidence (and it was the first time I'd seen that actual content edit) would not to be suitable for Wikipedia because it was inflammatory. --Tony Sidaway 15:10, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
Correct, correct and correct. I would be saying "delete" on any MfD which were to arise or continue on the conclusion of the case. GDonato (talk) 15:45, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

Request for Rollback

On my request for Rollback, you stated: Visit WP:ANI and get consensus, and this will be done. I'm not sure I follow you on that. Can you please elaborate? El Greco(talk) 00:52, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

The process is very much in its infancy and as such, there are no clear recommendations as to who is allowed rollback. You were blocked on 24th Sept. for edit warring or disruption and, at such an early stage, rollback was only being granted to users who we were sure would use it appropriately at all times. If you start a section here or here and there is administrative approval for your request I will grant it (this is the tie-breaker method I was using at first for proposals I was unsure of). You may also relist and it can be reviewed (current tie-breaker method as far as I can tell), GDonato (talk) 16:36, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
It got taken care of. Thanks anyway. El Greco(talk) 17:04, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

Paris

Sorry, I didn't know how to revert the edits of Moose Sheriff. Our edits gave a strange result (I redirected Paris, Europe to Paris then you moved Paris,Europe to Paris, so it made a loop !). Ermm.. I think something went wrong. Take a peak at the revision history of Paris, Northeast Texas. I think you might have accidentally hidden its page history, as it looks like the *Texas revisions might be stuck in limbo. --slakrtalk / 21:35, 11 January 2008 (UTC)

It appears to be somewhat messed up :S Can you fix it? GDonato (talk) 21:44, 11 January 2008 (UTC)
I had created Paris, Northeast Texas in order to restore Paris and I had planed to redirect Paris, Northeast Texas to paris, Texas, but I've forgotten. Anyway, I could not restore Paris and the history with my mere user powers. Cheers, Cenarium (talk) 22:53, 11 January 2008 (UTC)

Rudget!

Dear GDonato, my sincere thanks for your support in my second request for adminship, which ended with 113 supports, 11 opposes, and 4 neutral. I would especially like to thank my admin coach and nominator, Rlevse and Ryan Postlethwaite who in addition to Ioeth all inspired me to run for a second candidacy. I would also like to make a special mention to Phoenix-wiki, Dihyrdogen Monoxide and OhanaUnited who all offered to do co-nominations, but I unfortunately had to decline. I had all these funny ideas that it would fail again, and I was prepared for the worst, but at least it showed that the community really does have something other places don't. Who would have though Gmail would have been so effective? 32 emails in one week! (Even if it does classify some as junk :P) I'm glad that I've been appointed after a nail biting and some might call, decision changing RFA, but if you ever need anything, just get in touch. The very best of luck for 2008 and beyond, Rudget. 16:09, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
