Hi, DrewP. I did some copyediting years ago, and continue to be interested in removing obstacles to comprehension. I referred to the Mortgage-backed securities article a while back, and kind of stumbled over what I took to be a process description for the creation of these MBSs. Here's what I had trouble with:

1. Mortgage loans (mortgage notes) are purchased from banks and other lenders and assigned to a trust
2. These loans are assembled into collections, or "pools"
3. These trusts securitize the pool and issue mortgage-backed securities, with documentation that identifies the underlying loans

I had trouble reading this because:

• Point 1 starts wth mortgage loans from multiple lenders and follows them to a trust.
• Point 2 goes back to the mortgage loans; it doesn't take up the flow with the trusts and it doesn't say who organizes the loans into pools.
• Point 3 breaks the flow again by starting with trusts rather than pools, and then refers to a singular pool rather than the plural pools of point 2. In addition, it refers to plural trusts (where did they come from?) rather than the singular trust we had from point 1.

I proposed a revision, but the one interested user who replied objected to the substance of my revision. I invited him to propose a revision, but I haven't gotten an answer so far. Based on your entry on the GOCE subject-areas list, I thought you might be willing to propose a revision. Here's the mid-drive newsletter. Participation: We have had 58 people sign up for this drive so far, which compares favorably with our last drive, and 27 have copy-edited at least one article. This is the most successful drive we have had for quite a while. Here is your end-of-drive wrap-up newsletter. Participation Of the 70 people who signed up for this drive, 40 copy-edited at least one article. Thanks to all who participated! Special acknowledgement goes out to Lfstevens, who did over 200 articles, most of them in the last third of the drive, and topped all three leaderboard categories. You're a superstar! Stfg and others have been pre-checking the articles for quality and conformance to Wikipedia guidelines; some have been nominated for deletion or had some preliminary clean-up done to help make the copy-edit process more fun and appealing.
