New Project

Myself and several other editors have been compiling a list of very active editors who would likely be available to help new editors in the event they have questions or concerns. As the list grew and the table became more detailed, it was determined that the best way to complete the table was to ask each potential candidate to fill in their own information, if they so desire. This list is sorted geographically in order to provide a better estimate as to whether the listed editor is likely to be active.

If you consider yourself a very active Wikipedian who is willing to help newcomers, please either complete your information in the table or add your entry. If you do not want to be on the list, either remove your name or just disregard this message and your entry will be removed within 48 hours. The table can be found at User:Useight/Highly Active, as it has yet to have been moved into the Wikipedia namespace. Thank you for your help. Useight (talk) 17:16, 3 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ivan Pocheckin

Hi. The name garners fewer than 400 Google hits and I only saw four or five which had anything to do with the guy. If it isn't deleteable under NN person, it sure is under NN band. Add to that the fact that the guy has been editing two versions under one username and two IP's and frankly, I'm at the end of my rope. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 02:45, 10 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oh really? Since when is CSD a substitute for AFD? Take a closer look, he has an assertion. And do not revert me again. —Dark talk 02:46, 10 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
If you think that "winning the 2005 International Paganini Competition established himself as one of the leading violinists of his generation" isn't an assertion of notability, you shouldn't be patrolling new pages. As with the Ghits, they're meaningless. —Dark talk 02:48, 10 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You had best read WP:CIVIL. You want to run it up on AfD, fine, The user has been disruptive as all get-out on top of everything else. PMDrive1061 (talk) 02:52, 10 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Right. And I thought I was the one assuming good faith and asking you to refrain from biting newbies? Oh well, guess that didn't work. —Dark talk 02:54, 10 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Why don't you take a moment and read my comments to the user? At no time did I bite, even when the guy started using multiple IPs to remove the notices. Good God, relax. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 02:59, 10 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

And templating him with a final warning for one removal of a speedy deletion notice does not constitute biting? —Dark talk 03:00, 10 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Dark: Wikipedia:Editor_assistance/Requests#User:DarkFalls. dihydrogen monoxide (H2O) 03:01, 10 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I realized, but thanks. —Dark talk 03:02, 10 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re. your comment: No, I don't think I was biting anyone and I would like this to drop, if you please. PMDrive1061 (talk) 03:05, 10 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Beer for DarkFalls! Hooray, beer! east.718 at 03:07, May 10, 2008

Well, I guess that settles it. Beer for all! --PMDrive1061 (talk) 03:09, 10 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I might have been a little frustrated and tend to choose my wording unwisely, but it was neither incivil or a threat. —Dark talk 03:11, 10 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • No problem. It's easy to get frustrated here, believe me. Thanks for setting me straight. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 03:17, 10 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Requesting an Editor Review

Hi, you opposed my last RFA at Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Gary King a few weeks ago. I have decided to open an Editor Review at Wikipedia:Editor review/Gary King so I could receive a new assessment for my recent activity on Wikipedia. I would greatly appreciate it if you could take the time to look over my recent contributions and point out areas where I could improve. Thanks in advance! Gary King (talk) 05:21, 11 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi frnd, Im sorry if you felt I was sarcastic . You have actually got me wrong. I was only appreciating him for his willingness to accept it if done wrong. Hope that clarifies -- TinuCherian (Wanna Talk?) - 10:36, 11 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Rfb participation thanks

Hello, Dark.

I wanted to personally thank you for taking part in the project-wide discussions regarding my candidacy for bureaucratship. After bureaucratic discussion, the bureaucrats decided that there was sufficient significant and varied opposition to my candidacy, and thus no consensus to promote. Although personally disappointed, I both understand and respect their decision, especially in light of historical conservatism the project has had when selecting its bureaucrats. If you have any further suggestions or comments as to how you think I could help the project, please let me know. As you saw fit to strike your support, it must be that you had developed reservations as to the candidacy. As the only way to improve is through constructive criticism, I would appreciate if you would let me know what it is you saw, and your opinions as to how, or if, it may be addressed. Thank you. -- Avi (talk) 16:32, 12 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello . The Highly Active Users project has gone through a complete revamping per popular demand. We believe this new format will make it easier for new editors to find assistance. However, with the new format, I must again ask you to verify your information on this page. With the extensive changes, I may have made some errors. Thanks again. bibliomaniac15 01:50, 17 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You will also need to add [[Category:Wikipedians who use StatusBot]] to your userpage in order for SoxBot V to automatically update your online/offline status. If you do not added this text, you will always be listed as "offline" at HAU. Thanks. Useight (talk) 02:55, 17 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

For DarkFalls

The Original Barnstar
I hereby present DarkFalls this barnstar for his hard work on Hudson Fysh, and for generally being a great guy. Cheers, -- Anonymous DissidentTalk 03:48, 17 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I somehow missed this amongst the other messages in the talk page, but thanks...even though the article isn't even halfway complete. —Dark talk 08:39, 25 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The heck?

Copied from User talk:Daniel.

Who do you heck do you think you are characterizing my concerns and comments as trolling? Even actual legal court decisions can be criticized. Why can't arbocom? And this isn't even tied to any decisions by arbcom on a dispute. -- Cat chi? 01:34, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

Because they've made their point clear and your comments are to effect of "well screw them, I deny they can control the way RfAr works". What you seem to forget is all the RfAr pages are designed for the community to interact with the Committee, not the other way around, and as such Committee have control over the format and composition of all pages in Wikipedia:Arbitration Committee/* and Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/*. Daniel (talk) 01:39, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
WC/CC...you're being disruptive and three arb clerks have, in various words, told you to chill out. So do so. RlevseTalk 01:40, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I have taken this issue with the foundation itself including Jimbo. I will drop this issue when I feel comfortable with the result. You can count on that. Arbitration clerks are not divine entities. I will not be patronized. -- Cat chi? 01:47, 18 May 2008 (UTC)
Good. I eagerly await the Foundation's inaction on the issue due to them totally disagreeing with you. Daniel (talk) 01:48, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Is everything that scripted? My my... -- Cat chi? 02:08, 18 May 2008 (UTC)
Guys, calm down plz. —Dark talk 01:51, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Why should I be "uncalm"? I am the one merely proposing minor changes to arbcom. People are going out of their way to attack me for it. It is them who should be calm. -- Cat chi? 02:10, 18 May 2008 (UTC)
I wasn't referring specifically at you. —Dark talk 02:30, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

aha

You're right, I did misunderstand what you were saying. Actually, I think I may have interpreted Dihydrogen Monoxide's statement a bit differently than you did. I thought he was opposing for the reasons of other opposers and general concerns about non-responsiveness. I don't think he was opposing because she was non-responsive in the RFA to his concerns. Because I interpreted it that way, I didn't realize what you were getting at. Apologies for the error. Cheers! --JayHenry (talk) 06:45, 25 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
