Orphans and Foundlings Project Proposal

Hello Bastun, we're trying to start up a new project to cover the adoption and related articles. Would you support it?

Tobit2 (talk) 15:15, 26 April 2009 (UTC)

Bastun, a first page for the project is up at WP:O&F. Tobit2 (talk) 01:20, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

Apologies

My apologies for assuming you were responding to me on the British Isles talk page. As you say, I should have checked out the indentations. I told another editor once I can make an ass of myself quite easily, which just goes to prove I'm right. Sorry and cheers. Jack forbes (talk) 18:35, 26 April 2009 (UTC)

Lets hear ya then!

New Irish Wikimedian mailing list

Hi Bastun:

We've started a new Ireland Wikimedian email list, that you can join, at mail:WikimediaIE. For Wikimedians in Ireland and Wikimedians interested in events in Ireland and efforts in Ireland. To discuss meetups, partnerships with Museums and National Archives, and anything else where Wikipedia and real life intersect :) --Bastique demandez 19:21, 13 May 2009 (UTC)

Hi and thanks

Dia Dhuit:

Hello. I'd like to thank you for the information about the dashes. I'm re-checking everything now in the Sandbox!

Can you please clarify why there aren't any notable people in the Irish Catholic section? There are a TON of people in the American-Catholics category. actors like Pierce Brosnan, musicians, etc. You have people included in the American Jews category but no one is allowed to be added to the Catholic sections? I don't get it. Jennifer Connelly is quoted as saying for instance that she has a lot of "guilt" because the is an "Irish Catholic Jew". So American Jew is a category that is allowed, but Irish or American Catholic isn't?

I am not understanding the strange double standard here. You have many American Episcopalians, Presbyterians, etc. If a person is known through an interview or article as being something, I don't see why that shouldn't be allowed as a category. Enya is noted for performing at the Vatican, and for going to mass (she has said so numerous times when interviewed about her music), but it's still not okay?

Shouldn't that same rule apply for all the religion categories then?

Orphans and Foundlings Project

Bastun since the project was created there has been some debate over the name. There is now a proposal on the table to change it to either Orphaned, fosterees, and adoptees, or Orphaned, fostered and adopted children. Do you object to this?Tobit2 (talk) 14:01, 16 May 2009 (UTC)

Not sure if you have been following the - very long - discussion page, but we seem to be down to an alternative title of Adoption, fostering, and orphan care. I'd like to wrap up the discussion, so we can start building the project. Does this alternative title, work for you? If not, I think we are stuck with what we got already.Tobit2 (talk) 04:00, 22 May 2009 (UTC)

Project Name

Hey BaStun, I think you misread the first proposal as I mention here. Could you confirm that you are opposing the motion to change the project name?---I'm Spartacus! NO! I'm Spartacus! 17:32, 25 May 2009 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Republic of Ireland (term)

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Republic of Ireland (term), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

This is a content fork all this content is already covered and if not will be in other articles. This is disruptive with ongoing discussions about the name.

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. BigDuncTalk 09:12, 29 May 2009 (UTC)

Hi Bastun. I see you created this article but I don't understand the purpose of it. Especially in light of what might happen to the various article names in the future. On the other hand, I think it's potentially a great place for explaining the history of the term, where it's used, all the "official description" stuff, UK usage, etc, so that we can take it out of the main article and clean the main article up. Is this what you have in mind? --HighKing (talk) 10:22, 29 May 2009 (UTC)
I have removed the Prod I placed on the above article. BigDuncTalk 11:34, 29 May 2009 (UTC)

Charlie Zelenoff/Vintagekits

I noticed that you've had some interaction with Vintagekits. I stumbled across him when he began creating links to the Kimbo Slice page to a spoof article about Charlie Zelenoff that has now been deleted three times. I've posted the basic information on the admin board and was curious if you're experience with him might be beneficial to the discussion.

The discussion regarding Vintagekits and the Charlie Zelenoff article can be found here:

Thanks!

Sorry, my knowledge of and interest in boxing is pretty much zero. It is an area of huge interest to Vintagekits, though, so I honestly doubt he'd want spoof articles created. Um, you may also want to read WP:CANVASS. BastunnutsaB 21:50, 12 June 2009 (UTC)
I see you tried to get Vk banned. Nice guy you are. Um, you may also want to read WP:NPA. Sarah777 (talk) 11:05, 13 June 2009 (UTC)
Why - what am I supposed to have done? BastunnutsaB 12:37, 13 June 2009 (UTC)
Do you want me to answer that?--Vintagekits (talk) 19:52, 13 June 2009 (UTC)

Ur apology

I did nothing wrong u deserve no apology. Ur oversensitive. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dublin1994 (talkcontribs) 17:44, 17 June 2009 (UTC)

The fact that you immediately had to change your edit suggests that maybe you were indeed wrong. BastunnutsaB 17:49, 17 June 2009 (UTC)

Poll on Ireland (xxx)

A poll is up at Wikipedia:WikiProject_Ireland_Collaboration/Poll on Ireland (xxx). This is a vote on what option or options could be added in the poll regarding the naming of the Ireland and Republic of Ireland and possibly the Ireland (disambiguation) pages. The order that the choices appear in the list has been generated randomly. Sanctions for canvassing, forum shopping, ballot stuffing, sock puppetry, meat puppetry will consist of a one-month ban, which will preclude the sanctioned from participating in the main poll which will take place after this one. Voting will end at 21:00 (UTC) of the evening of 1 July 2009 (that is 22:00 IST and BST). -- Evertype· 18:15, 24 June 2009 (UTC)

Domer's page

We could have a poll asking if anyone wanted to entertain further discussion of his page. It would surely fail. (On the other hand, why bother.) -- Evertype· 18:14, 25 June 2009 (UTC)

That's just WP:OR. Please provide a citation. (Insert copy and paste of a large chunk of text that's already on this page three or four times). BastunĖġáḍβáś₮ŭŃ! 18:25, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
