A Message to "Johnny the Vandal"[edit]

Grow up, you stupid moron. You're a tiresome waste of space. I never get to see your vandalism anyway because plenty of good editors revert it within a minute or two of you wasting your time vandalising this page (and you seem to insist on doing it in the middle of the night my time, when I'm not around to see it anyway). So do us all a favour and give up editing Wikipedia, and let lots of people make more productive use of their time. 29/7/06

Seriously, go and see a psychiatrist - you are displaying classic symptoms of obsessive-compulsive disorder, apart from which through your activities you are a disgrace to your country, bringing the U.S. into disrepute (hint - a middle finger isn't an insult in this country). 17/8/06

Now he's gone for good because of an indefinite IP block, it's time to rejoice and be thankful he is gone. Whoever blocked that IP address that didn't claim it was him (but it was him), thank you a lot. --VelairWight 01:29, 2 November 2006 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Welcome![edit]

Hello there, welcome to the 'pedia! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Administrative permissions and inactivity reminder[edit]

Information iconThis is a reminder that established policy provides for removal of the administrative permissions of users who have made fewer than 100 edits over a 60-month period. You are receiving this annual reminder since you have averaged less than 50 edits per year over the last 5 years.

Inactive administrators are encouraged to reengage with the project in earnest rather than to make token edits to avoid loss of administrative permissions. Resources and support for reengaging with the project are available at Wikipedia:WikiProject Editor Retention/administrators. If you do not intend to be engaged with the project in the foreseeable future, please consider voluntarily resigning your administrative permissions by making a request at the bureaucrats' noticeboard.

Thank you for your past contributions to the project. — JJMC89 bot 00:18, 1 January 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Just a note to myself that I’ve done 124 edits in the last 5 years. Hopefully this will increase after I retire at the end of May. — Arwel Parry (talk) 00:29, 1 January 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

There is just something over-the-top about the minuscule diminutiveness of a quarter-farthing, the hemidemisemiquaver of Imperial coinage. How easy is such a thing to find among numismatic dealers? And at what sort of price? --Orange Mike | Talk 23:09, 7 January 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Yes, it’s difficult to see how much use they actually had at the time! I’ve just done a search to see if I could see any history of sales on the web, there doesn’t seem to be much, but over the last 6 or 7 years they seem to have sold for around £50-£100 each, though the 1868 ones seem to go for nearer £500. [1].
Be careful that there seem to be modern restrikes on the market, this Etsy posting is offering a pair of half and quarter farthings for £21.99! [2]Arwel Parry (talk) 23:26, 7 January 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
