October 2021[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm Lenny Marks. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to Baka (Japanese word) have been undone because they did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Teahouse. Thanks. Lenny Marks (talk) 12:25, 7 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I apologize as this was done in error. The previous revision (which contained vandalism) was mistaken for your own. All the best,--Lenny Marks (talk) 12:33, 7 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
No problem. Today is the first day I use WikiLoop Tool and I'm amazed that I got human interaction almost right away! Aithus (talk) 12:47, 7 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Uncategorized tag[edit]

Hello and welcome! Please remember to remove the {{Uncategorized}} tag when you add categories, so the article doesn't show up in the backlog. Thanks! Vukky! talkedits 09:02, 12 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your guidance. I will do so from now on. Aithus (talk) 09:12, 12 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Stub tags and categories[edit]

Hallo, you removed {{Spain-org-stub}} from Institute of Women and replaced it by Category:Spanish organisation stubs, but stub categories must not be added directly, only via the stub template, because it also produces the visible stub footnote. There's a lot to learn about editing Wikipedia but it's an interesting journey: Happy Editing! PamD 15:15, 25 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@PamD: Thank you for your gentle style of teaching this new contributer. I will now try to learn more about stubs. Aithus (talk) 15:25, 25 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Please warn vandals[edit]

Hello, thanks for fighting vandalism, but please make sure you warn vandals. WikiLoop does this but so do tools like Twinkle and RevWarn. I noticed that you didn't add a warning to User talk:Annonymoustiger, even though it's the talk page of an account making blatant vandalism. Graham87 03:14, 29 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for teaching this new editor by pointing out the project page. I will study it before issuing the notice. -Aithus (talk) 03:21, 29 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Who are you to say Varaha killed by sharabha no one can defeat Vishnu nor his forms and also pls stop spreading nonsense fakeness about Varaha Narsimha , if Varaha killed then now who is living in Varaha shestra ? Obligatory anti vandalism message[edit]

Have you tried RedWarn? – AssumeGoodWraith (talk | contribs) 02:14, 1 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for telling me about this tool. I'll check it out. Aithus (talk) 02:16, 1 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Remember to report persistent vandals to AIV, if you do. You can do so by going to a user talk page and pressing the 3 dots. – AssumeGoodWraith (talk | contribs) 02:17, 1 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Also also, I don't want to send too many messages, but please note that vandalism is a deliberate attempt to obstruct or defeat the project's purpose. A "bad" edit made in good faith is not vandalism. – AssumeGoodWraith (talk | contribs) 02:32, 1 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Understood. Just to make sure I understand good faith correctly, could you please tell me which of my rvv is actually not for vandalism? Aithus (talk) 02:35, 1 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
For example, this is probably a test edit, this may just be a misguided newcomer, etc. Don't worry, even though I'm basically an advocate for the definition of vandalism (sounds funny), I probably mark stuff that isn't vandalism as vandalism too. Particularly some stuff that I think is "subtle vandalism". – AssumeGoodWraith (talk | contribs) 02:40, 1 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I agree that the first one (Ada) might be test edits and will amend my future notification accordingly. But I think the second one (Adobo) is trolling since my earlier revert of this article is of user Spanglishfoods and the IP edit you noted put in URL with his name for external link. Aithus (talk) 02:44, 1 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
This is just spammy, sometimes misguided, self promo contrary to the purpose of the wiki. RW has a revert option for spam, though. – AssumeGoodWraith (talk | contribs) 02:50, 1 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

a short description[edit]

I just want to ping you about a change I made to your short description. My description is more specific than the one you gave. But I'm not actually sure if we want that or not. Please take a look. I won't be offended if you revert.

https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Truth_%26_Justice_(podcast)&diff=1066139805&oldid=1065718415 Adoring nanny (talk) 00:42, 17 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Adoring nanny: I have 2 reservations about your change:
  • To the general audience, the term actual innocence podcast may be confusing. We are talking about a short description, a phrase the user sees before even a glimpse of the article. So I think a prosaic description is more useful.
  • If new seasons shift to cases of actually guilty people, or old season cases proved to be guilty after all, the short description becomes invalid. Aithus (talk) 00:51, 17 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Interesting points. For now, I'll change it back. Still wondering if there is a good, succinct way to include the fact that it's mostly about wrongful convictions. The "mostly" is indeed a sticking point. Adoring nanny (talk) 13:26, 19 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Adoring nanny: If you don't mind going over the suggested 40 characters, how about podcast exploring whether a conviction is wrongful? Aithus (talk) 14:16, 19 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Aithus: Good day. I wanna invite you to please proceed to this discussion. I've been enough of manual reverting on myself, but he or she still vandalizing that page. Saisønisse (talk) 09:09, 24 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please remember to assume good faith when dealing with other editors. Thank you. Blanchey (talk) 19:39, 21 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Blanchey I apologize for my bad assumption back then. Would you like me to strike out my note in November on the project task force talk page as well? I think that the replies by 2 members make it clear to everyone that I was badly judgmental and wrong, but if you would like me to strike the note, I will do so. Aithus (talk) 23:47, 21 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
It’s ok, I appreciate your very kind response. Blanchey (talk) 07:31, 22 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

June 2022[edit]

I have concerns for the photo file you used in Marcia Pally. It was deleted from Commons due to being a copy-write violation. You may want to review https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Marcia_Pally_press_photo.jpg to see why it was deleted from commons and consider removing it from the article. Demt1298 (talk) 01:44, 10 June 2022 (UTC)Demt1298[reply]

@Demt1298 I couldn't see the actual photo you asked me to review at Commons since it was deleted, but the photo on the official website referred in deletion note is totally different from the Commons photo I inserted to the article. The Commons page for the photo currently used seems legit to me from reading the summary and licensing. Since the photo is also used in de-wiki, could you please raise your concern at Commons so that its validity can be properly resolved? Aithus (talk) 03:43, 10 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

July 2022[edit]

Hey thank you for fixing my edit. I was hoping if you hover over the [a] with your mouse it would show you the SoundCloud. For example the page Paint It Black shows the [a] which you can hover over and read whats in there but the footnote stays right at the bottom of the page. This is what i was hoping for, do you know why this is not happening? Aaron106 (talk) 18:09, 12 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Nevermind I was able to fix it :) --Aaron106 (talk) 20:41, 12 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

July 2022[edit]

I appreciate your comment about →‎Steep soil slope and channel protection: fix citation issues, but I'm not sure what the issue is or what to fix. I used the Wiki insert citation dialog. If the issue is that the volume no. (49) is bold, I do not see the bold in the code nor how to remove it. Yschary

@YSchary: My fix is not about the "issue" parameter if you mean volume-issue stuff. I used the word "issue" for a problem that is not so bad that I would call it an "error". I will have to pick a new word to use for edit summary since I can see now that it might be confusing to use for a citation problem. Anyway, the problem is with the "via" parameter which should not be an external link. "Via" is for the name of the content deliverer, if different from publisher (see Template:Cite_journal#Publisher). So it can be something like "Elsevier Science Direct". I "fixed" the issue by removing "via" and switched to doi for a more durable link. Aithus (talk) 09:01, 18 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Bridget Kearney[edit]

Thank you for trying to improve the Bridget Kearney page. I do not know this artist personally. This is one of the very few pages I edit because I find her inspiring. I noticed you removed all of her current band affiliations except Lake Street Dive. This is incorrect. Ms. Kearney performs as a solo and ad hoc act with other guest musicians, leading and following, as well as with Benjamin Lazar Davis, Will Graefe and others on a regular basis under various band names including the ones I reinstated. These musicians, collaborations and bands are important in a number of ways. (please check out Bridget's Solo albums, and her work on BAWA and STILL FLYING. Please be careful when editing. Research is an important foundation on Wikipedia. I like your code. jstengel Jess (talk) 02:34, 17 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Jstengel: I apologize for cutting out some of them from the infobox. I do believe in MOS:INFOBOXPURPOSE, particularly that it should "summarize (and not supplant) key facts that appear in the article". That was why I left out bands without their own articles that are sort-of personal to the artist, or whose memberships may be vaguely defined. But there is nothing wrong with your inclusion either. By the way, I think you spelled "Cuddle Magic" wrong in the infobox. I didn't correct it because I'm not sure in which parameter I should put it (is she a current or past member?). Aithus (talk) 03:00, 17 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
No worries. Thanks for the feedback and educational link to MOS:INFOBOXPURPOSE. I fixked' the "Magic" spellin' :) Bridget is a past member of Cuddle Magic, she appears in older YouTube and Facebook posts. Jess (talk) 19:35, 19 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
