Your help needed[edit]

That's okay. No one is automatically born with the ability to read and write. I will also ask other native speakers such as Luhungnguong who are proficient in Romanized Mindong. If you ever need to look up a certain character pronunciation in Mindong, then just go here and type "Ctrl + F" and then type in the chinese character on the top left hand corner of your screen, then press enter. --S205645 (talk) 04:18, 2 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
You're doing a great work with the new articles. I have updated the character list with new translations based on blog articles written by GnuDoyng and other native Foochowese speakers. Many words were also extracted from the Foochowese Bible. You can translate the untranslated character list because you know what the pronunciation would be. --S205645 (talk) 18:24, 4 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
As you may have known already, the 3,000 most commonly used characters had been translated into Romanized Foochowese (of course if you take the simplified characters into account then that would be up to 4,000 characters in total). Thanks to an online chinese character-->Romanized Foochowese comparison table diligently compiled by a native speaker, the total chinese characters translated to Romanized Foochowese are now over 6,000 and this is quite comprehensive already. (The Hakka transliteration tool contains approximately 6,700 translated characters).

I have contacted the System Administrator in charge of such projects and he is willing to help create and implement the transliteration tool on Mindong Wikipedia after he has properly implemented the Hakka one first. Of course this won't happen immediately because the tool has not yet been perfected but when it is done, the Mindong Wikipedia will hopefully be next in line.......... --S205645 (talk) 13:45, 13 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, 唐吉訶德的侍從, and welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

However, there is a small issue with your username. As it is in a non-Latin alphabet script it may not display correctly for many other users. Although usernames like yours are not prohibited, Wikipedia's signature guideline and username policy encourage you, as a courtesy to other users, to alter your signature so that it also includes a transliteration of your username using Latin characters, so others can see it correctly. The article Mamoru Shō has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. GABHello! 22:03, 5 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Asian 10,000 Challenge invite[edit]

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 05:06, 21 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I will, in return, with all your heart give you the articles that you like most in Italian, Spanish, Portuguese and Italian dialects I know. Notice

The article Trùng Quang Đế has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No reference, poorly created

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Hello, 唐吉訶德的侍從. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Archives royales du Champa".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. SITH (talk) 20:41, 27 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Ramathipadi I, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Malay (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

I need IP block exemption because I'm currently in China. Wikipedia is blocked in China, I have to use proxy to edit here, but most of proxy is blocked in Wikipedia. Google Code-In 2019 is coming - please mentor some documentation tasks![edit]

Hello,

Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at the English Wikipedia.

I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Please sign up at the contest page and send us your Google account address to google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org, so we can invite you in!

From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community.

If you have any questions, please let us know at google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org.

Thank you!

DYK for Lucien Sève[edit]

On 27 April 2020, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Lucien Sève, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that French philosopher Lucien Sève wrote a four-volume work focusing on his perceived problems with various interpretations of Marxism? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Lucien Sève. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Lucien Sève), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

A tag has been placed on Category:First Shō clan requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". August 2023[edit]

Information icon Hello. I have noticed that you often edit without using an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This helps your fellow editors use their time more productively, rather than spending it unnecessarily scrutinizing and verifying your work. Even a short summary is better than no summary, and summaries are particularly important for large, complex, or potentially controversial edits. To help yourself remember, you may wish to check the "prompt me when entering a blank edit summary" box in your preferences. Thanks! Liz Read! Talk! 04:05, 12 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, 唐吉訶德的侍從,
When you move a page to a new title, please fill out that field that asks you to provide a reason. Leaving an edit summary when you move an article helps other editors understand what you are doing and why you did it. It makes it less likely that your page move will be reverted. If you could do this with every move in the future, it would really be abiding by Wikipedia's best practices. Thank you for all of your contributions on the project! Liz Read! Invitation to an in-person meetup in Mohua / Golden Bay[edit]

Golden Bay Air are holding some seats for us until 21 November

Thinking about your summer break? Think about joining other Wikipedians and Wikimedians in Golden Bay / Mohua! Details are on the meetup page. There's heaps of interesting stuff to work on e.g. the oldest extant waka or New Zealand's oldest ongoing legal case. Or you may spend your time taking photos and then upload them.

Golden Bay is hard to get to and the airline flying into Tākaka uses small planes, so we are holding some seats from and to Wellington and we are offering attendees a $200 travel subsidy to help with costs.

Be in touch with Schwede66 if this event interests you and you'd like to discuss logistics. Schwede66 09:14, 13 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • The New Pages Patrol is currently struggling to keep up with the influx of new articles needing review. We could use a few extra hands to help.
  • We think that someone with your activity and experience is very likely to meet the guidelines for granting.
  • Reviewing/patrolling a page doesn't take much time, but it requires a strong understanding of Wikipedia’s CSD policy and notability guidelines.
  • Kindly read the tutorial before making your decision, and feel free to post on the project talk page with questions.
  • If patrolling new pages is something you'd be willing to help out with, please consider applying here.

Thank you for your consideration. We hope to see you around!
