Yes, I linked to the articles published in Czech media at Talk:Moravia, please, check. Do you speak Czech, btw? All the sources state that the concept of the official Moravian language is hardly realizable, given the variety of dialects spoken in Moravia. I do not speak Czech, but Slovene, Hungarian, Prekmurian. Replaces this sources. I can not comment on the Moravian literary language-question, but dialects also spoken in Slovenia. In addition the literary language is a artificial language, accordingly if it would be independent of Moravia, the literary language is feasible from every dialects. Unfortunately, in Slovenia the central dialect is the ruling, but few linguists was proposed the involvement of other dialects (Pleteršnik's dictionary)./Jaz ne govorim češko, samo slovensko, madžarsko in prekmursko. Bom prepisal vire z drugimi. Ne morem komentirati vprašanja moravskega knjižnega jezika, ampak narečja govorijo tudi v Sloveniji. Pravzaprav knjižni jezik vedno umetni jezik, tako če bi bila Moravska samostojna država, takrat je možno tvoriti knjižni jezik iz vseh narečij. Žal, v Sloveniji tudi samo centralno narečje je prevladujoče v knjižnem jeziku, vendar več jezikoslovcev je svetovalo vključenost drugih narečij (glej Pleteršnikov slovar). Enrique Quintana

Hi, when you wake up you can read this: I deleted Enrique Quintana as it has no claim to importance. If the portal requested it , there may be a reason that indicates importance. But on the other hand it may be just an unjustified request. So if you can work out why Enrique Quintana should have an article here you can recreate it or ask me to undelete. Lida Baarova

Hello, it seems like you were the last person who was editing the article about Lida Baarova. I just want to point out that there are many mistakes in the article and I just want to point out the correct details:

1838 Baarova was not allowed to act in Germany anymore but at the same time she was not to leave Germany which was an order by Gestapo;

1945 Baarova was taken into custody but due to lack of any evidence she has not been tried and she has not been senteced either! She merely spent 18 month in custody and was released thereafter;

Kopecky did not help Baarova's release from custody in any way. Kopecky tried, however, his important communist relative of his not only didn't help but also caused repressions against Kopecky, hence the reason Baarova and Kopecky both decided to emigrate.

Baarova and Lundwall met already first in 1948 but did not married until 1969, one year after Lundwalls wife died. Lundwall died already in 1972

Those are the correct details and dates according to Baarova's book 'Zivota sladke horkosti'

There are many more mistakes in the article about Baarova and I only pointed out those few.

You are absolutely free to fix the incorrect facts, however, don't forget to cite your sources. At the moment, I can respond only to the first part of your message. Stanislav Motl says in this interview: "...v roce 1938 byla vyhoštěna z Německa a u nás jí dal Otakar Vávra tři poslední role", which means that she was expelled from Germany and after that she appeared in her last three roles in the Czechoslovakia/Protectorate, in the films directed (?) by Vávra. Another article by novinky.cz says that Hitler intervened on 16 August, 1938, after Goebbels' wife Magda complained to him. Baarová managed to escape to Czechoslovakia shortly before the occupation started (in March 1939). I know 'Života sladké hořkosti', but I don't own the book. I'm aware that I don't cite scholarly sources, but I consider the mentioned news articles trustworthy. MSU Interview

Dear Vejvančický,

My name is Jonathan Obar user:Jaobar, I'm a professor in the College of Communication Arts and

Sciences at Michigan State University and a Teaching Fellow with the Wikimedia Foundation's

Education Program. This semester I've been running a little experiment at MSU, a class where we

teach students about becoming Wikipedia administrators. Not a lot is known about your community,

and our students (who are fascinated by wiki-culture by the way!) want to learn how you do what

you do, and why you do it. A while back I proposed this idea (the class) to the community

_New_class_at_MSU|HERE]], where it was met mainly with positive feedback. Anyhow, I'd like my

students to speak with a few administrators to get a sense of admin experiences, training,

motivations, likes, dislikes, etc. We were wondering if you'd be interested in speaking with one

of our students.

So a few things about the interviews:

• Interviews will last between 15 and 30 minutes.
• Interviews can be conducted over skype (preferred), IRC or email. (You choose the form of

communication based upon your comfort level, time, etc.)

• All interviews will be completely anonymous, meaning that you (real name and/or pseudonym) will

never be identified in any of our materials, unless you give the interviewer permission to do so.

• All interviews will be completely voluntary. You are under no obligation to say yes to an

interview, and can say no and stop or leave the interview at any time.

• The entire interview process is being overseen by MSU's institutional review board (ethics

review). This means that all questions have been approved by the university and all students have

been trained how to conduct interviews ethically and properly.

Bottom line is that we really need your help, and would really appreciate the opportunity to speak

Thanks, Northamerica1000! The article is pretty poor ... to be honest, I created the stub to help people evaluating foreign sources in deletion discussions. It is an important and very popular Czech news website, founded the same year as Google. Internet was a completely different place in those times, I can't believe my eyes when compare with today's size :) Their informations are sometimes flawed, but their coverage of Czech topics is quite decent. Natasha Trehan

I understand that my article entitled 'Natasha Trehan' has been speedily deleted. However, I do not believe that it was correctly deleted. Before writing the article, I read the 'Your First Article' post on Wikipedia and followed the guidelines perfectly.

1) I have gathered references - from the source itself. 2) I created the article first in my sandbox, and after editing it, on a new page. 3) It does not have an existing page. 4) It is not about myself, my friends, family, a band I am in, my teacher - I don't know Natasha Trehan personally. 5) It is not an advertisement - it is a biography of someone. 6) It is not a personal essay or original research - I have references from the source itself. 7) It is not a short article - it is of average length. 8) It is not an attack on a person or an organization. 9) I did not copy anything or violate copyrights. 10) It is in a neutral tone - I crosschecked with other articles.

I feel that my article should not have been deleted as I have followed all the guidelines correctly. I also believe that this is an important article, as this is an up and coming young Canadian singer who has a lot of talent. She might be the next Justin Bieber or Carly Rae Jepson or even Celine Dion, and by posting this article on Wikipedia, we are informing the people on something they should know.

This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because Natasha Trehan is an upcoming Canadian singer, and the facts posted in the article can be verified with the references provided at the end of the article. Also, the article is of average length, but will be edited often, and expanded as more videos and blogs are posted by Natalia Trehan. By having a page on wikipedia, Natasha Trehan will be more recognized and people will be able to identify her. In wikipedia there are pages of people who don't even have an image of the person. Now I'm a bit confused. The page I have issue with is User:Daniel Christensen/Starcraft Marine. The page has not had acticvity for some time and the talk page is empty. I didn't delete the 'user', just his 'userpage', because he asked to do so by adding {{db-user}} template to the page. A decision of an admin (or a community decision) may lead to block or ban of a user, but we can't "delete" them. He is still active, see http://wiki.alquds.edu/?query=Special:Contributions/Daniel_Christensen, and it would be very rude to delete the work stored in his user space without his knowledge. Thank you for writing it, Michael. The idea (of someone stalking me through Internet and following me to my home) comes to my mind from time to time. It would be quite easy, despite the fact that I don't have an account on Facebook or anywhere else (except on Wikipedia). The major websites are changing their policy regarding protection of privacy, but I think it is a) too late b) just a masquerade. The situation changes rapidly, I remember the changes in Wikipedia's BLP protection and I also remember that I was one of the people opposing immediate deletion of unreferenced BLP information. Today I know I was wrong and I better realize the dangers and power of this project. The digital memory is powerful and unforgiving, your past thoughts and words can trap you anytime. • 1. I probably do not understand the system of work in Wikipedia. I never got any direct communication, only I see you erased quite a lot. I do not even know who did it. But perhaps it is saved in history. So I mainly need advice, how not to behave "rudely" on Wikipedia, but how also I could start to do some regular work, as I can see some of the pages concerning Czech history quite short and some also erroneous.

• 2. By references, do you mean referencing according to standard academic convention? This is no problem, but you may imagine, I cannot guess in advance, where anyone personally would feel a reference is necessary. So I can always reference everything what I put publicly down, but I would find decent to be asked for reference before erasing. Especially in Premysl Otakar II.'s Legacy, where you erased everything I added, I was mostly only stating commonly known facts, most of which are in a textbook (Why do you think referencing them is necessary and how would you propose best to do it? I can of course go into library and quote the latest monographic. But this is not common practice in Wikipedia. Everything is also in Palacký. So what is better?). What was new in Přemysl Otakar II.'s Legacy were (some, few) my conclusions. It was not necessary to reference them, as they were only a deduction from the previously stated facts.

• 3. I do not believe it is right to say, that Wikipedia cannot use itself as reference, because each page is worked on separately (and each therefore has another mix of real authorship). I mean, it is authors and editors of the referenced page, who take responsibility for credibility of that reference. And that surely (or at least mostly) are different people, than with the page anyone edits right now. I did not know, that this kind of references can be used against validity of my text, I thought, they are for the purpose of the reader. I would have gladly added many hardcopy references when asked. But it was not my purpose to circumvent anything and I believed what I do, I do for reader's convenience.

• 4. It is funny, how you edited my addition to Božena (Křesinová) /EN, because you brought in an error, which I previously tried to repair. "Božena's low birth is alluded to in the chronicle of Cosmas" is completely opposite to what Cosmas says: he says "some woman", "quondam". He continues they met in the village, and then says: "she was of excellent appearance, of skin whiter than snow, softer than the swan, shinier than old ivory." In my opinion, this is description of a noble girl. He did not meet her, so we do not know, whether his poetical language reflects only his imagination, or something he has heard of her. If the sentence you leave in first paragraph, is true ("was the second wife (and probably earlier the mistress") - I would really like to know, what is this brave statement based in - than is even more probable, she was of noble origin. Why would a prince have other mistress?

• 5. Cosmas used the word "quondam", in fact, because he felt ashamed, that Božena was Oldřich's second wife. This was common with early Christians, that they felt ashamed for their pagan ancestors. Exactly in the same manner uses Christian in Vita et passio sancti Vencaslai et sanctae Ludmilae aviae eius, about Libuše, the same word "qoundam". It is the 2nd and 3rd sentence in 2nd part of the legend. In this case, Christian was ashamed, that she (Libuše, who for the same reason is not named, but can nevertheless be identified as giving order to founding of Prague) was something interpreted by Christian Church as a witch, or professing other gods. But he also explicitly says she was a soothsayer. So perhaps he feels ashamed for this, and only omits name. Nevertheless, the word "qoundam" denotes in my opinion unwillingness of the religious author to state the real social status of the described person. At those times all writers were religious, so virtually all second wives, pagan priestesses etc. were "qaedam".

• 6. Also noting the village (by Cosmas) may mean, she was rich, because there were no castles in Bohemia of that time, only few ducal oppida. And all other people lived in villages. Lord of one village was simply one of lords of those times. Name of her father could mean, she was of Czech origin, but also could mean much more, depending on her father's social position. Perhaps already Cosmas did not know this position and only heard the name, with no relation. That there were nobles at that time, we read in Cosmas. We know Oldřich's brother Boleslav killed many of them, and still they took part in the following fights.

• 7. Dalimil interprets Božena in the view of his own national ideology. Dalimil is antigerman and from the point of view of nobility praises blood (or language) bond even with the village people. Dalimil reads Cosmas in his way, because it is possible to do so. But he explained Cosmas' omissions in his own way - for the Czechs of Dalimil's time it was already impossible to imagine, the ancestors had more than one wife. They had no historical science etc. Thus at the very beginning of Hussite Wars Czechs sincerely thought, Czechs are (and ever were) the best Christians ever - because this was what all living people could remember.

• 8. I added reference to the CZ wiki page of Božena, because I realized, that it is being contributed by some people from Peruc, or working around Peruc. Therefore it not only contains more than the English version, but is also probable, that it always will contain more information. Again, if you feel I need some other reference, please, let me know. But I do not generally understand, if everything needs such support (like I do need to reference Britannica, and then everything what is above ...), or if only something. And if just something, how can I guard myself against such cutting like that of yours in advance, because I cannot know, what will be surprising for the editor?

• 9. In the page Božena Křesinová remains one quite grave error, which I did not edit, because it was in other part of text, than I had worked on. I will leave it there, until I will get enough understanding of the process here in Wikipedia. I apologize for the number of edits, which is really my fault; I will of course need to pre-write my edits in my computer, to have some backup. I just had some time I did not expect and used it to try something new, like amateur. But I will try to learn.

• 10. I went in to detail concerning Božena, as an example. Of course not much of this deliberation is suitable for the page itself. But try to beat it, if you do not take it. If you take it, please advise me, how to reference it. Or you yourself please give reference to the allusion stated by you. I believe, you must add to the sentence: by some of the readers. And then you see it is not suitable sentence at all.

Perhaps I only do not understand how to properly cooperate. I would be very happy, if I could leave somewhere "notes for the editor", as that could save much time. Of course I do understand the importance of reference, and linking. But I thought I would be adding them gradually later on. So please, let me know, how can I push through myself, and I will make sure to keep formal duties. But in fact I need to know how to communicate with the editor, if I can't leave notes. Thanks for telling me where the other language versions are :), I really did not know. But it is not at first clear for the reader say from Singapore, that he/she should check the Czech language version to find more local links. Thus perhaps the reference is stressing this link. Perhaps it should be moved to Further reading. Generally, if you write me: this, this, this needs reference, I will do so, but give me some few days, as I also work. Please pass this message as you find useful to achieving its purpose.

Thanks for contacting me, Michal. I'll attempt to address the points you raised in your message:

• 1) You have been 'directly' contacted and pointed to the basic rules of editing on this project by me. I'm not the editor who removed a part of your additions, all the edits are saved in the article's history, you can find it by clicking the "history" box (located at the top of each article).

• 2) Again, I'm not the editor who removed your contributions. By referencing, I mean using Wikipedia citation templates (you can find a good introduction of how to cite your sources at WP:REFBEGIN, WP:CITE and WP:CITATION TEMPLATES). Template:Cite journal and Template:Cite book should comply with the 'standard academic conventions'. You don't have to add citation to each sentence, but each paragraph should contain at least one footnote pointing to a reliable source, it is a matter of common sense. Personally, I tend to ask for source before deleting any obviously "good faith" unreferenced edit, but I can understand that editors who watch and work on articles are mistrustful to large blocks of completely unreferenced text. Anyone can edit here and you have to take into account that you edits may be reverted. Referencing is 'not common practice in Wikipedia'? Well, maybe not on another part of the Wikimedia projects, but it should be common practice here on en:wiki. The facts you add might be 'commonly known' to you or to the Czech history experts and academics, however, they are not commonly known to a large part of our readership, and therefore the reference is needed.

• 3) Wikipedia cannot use itself as a reference. I've already explained to you how we refer to an article on another part of the Wikimedia project. On a side note, editors arrive and leave the project, but the information they add often stays for years before it is corrected/referenced. I admit that it is a weak part of the editing in an open-source project (we can't force anyone to take responsibility for their actions), and perhaps therefore I'm always trying to remind the editors to properly cite their sources.

• 4) I've never edited the article Božena (Křesinová) see the article's history.

• 5-10) I can't comment on this at the moment, as I don't edit those articles and I don't have the competence and literature to provide a well-informed opinion.

I don't know what exactly do you mean by the "notes for the editor", but you can always find the names of editors who alter your additions in the article's history. You can contact them, ask, collaborate and contibute to a better solution. If you want to explain or summarize your addition, do it in the edit summary.

Thank you for providing sources for this article, which had been an unsourced stub for several years. However, this was unnecessary; I understand the purpose of the AFD process, and criticizing an editor for nominating an article like this does not improve the encyclopedia. I still don't think Boucher meets the notability guidelines ("trivial coverage of a subject by secondary sources may not be sufficient to establish notability"), but that's just my opinion and we can agree to disagree. • web2null seems to be a website (öffentliche Sammelalbum/public "scratchbook") where anyone can promote a company or business, and it cannot be considered an independent source
• wwwhatsnew.com is a similar website (in Spanish)
• killerstartups.com - see this, Martin. I can immediatelly start my own profile informing about my own start-up company.

Hi, I don't think it's ever been the case that an article has to be nominated for a speedy by someone other than an admin prior to deletion. An example would be a blp prod, where the prod is added simply because of a lack of sources, but the article is spam/nn anyway. Nevertheless, I'll explain to the creator as you suggest. I am sorry there is not much notice given to the works of Věra Vovsová, but there has been more mention of her in the last century. Sadly, some information I have cannot be referenced, because it is from Vovsová´s personal belongings (her writing and paintings). It was a gift from one of Vovsová´s surviving relatives along with a few of her paintings. La Digue

Hello, I really need your help. I contributed quite a lot to an article about the Seychelles island La Digue, which is in WikiProject Africa, but I can´t figure out how to have it re-evaluated. It was a stub before I started gathering up sources, but I think that it is beyond that category now. Could you tell me how to get the page re-evaluated please? It is a beautiful place and you did excellent work, Highschoolpuppettier. I've changed the assessment to C-Class, as I think the article is far better than stub or start class. But I have very little experience with the assessment :) Btw, I don't know what kind of reference tool are you using, but there is a bug in formatting. Here is an example: <ref> name="La Digue History" group=History>. The parameters name= and group= can't work together like that, and there's a problem also with the duplicated closing >. I've fixed it, see the diff. For further information, see Wikipedia:Citation_templates#Using_the_same_footnote_multiple_times. Personally, I use this: (the 'curly bracket' button in the editing window above). When you click it, you can pick a relevant citation template, fill the boxes and add a citation (the parameter name= is at the bottom, in the section "Reference name:". There are, of course, other options, but I consider this quite handy. Hope that helps, and ask for more if not.
