This is a new alternative to the traditions of WP:AID and WP:COTW.

How it works
  1. Nominate an article or stub that you have started working on (one edit is enough[1]), saying why it is important to cover that topic.
  2. Specify the number of people that you think are needed to bring the article up to Featured Status.
  3. Others will then put their hand up by saying "join" and signing their name. They can also comment on whether they think more or fewer people are needed than originally specified. You may put up your hand for any three nominees at one time, and of course you may start editing as soon as you have voted - this will get the job done quicker and may attract additional contributors. However, no commitment is required until the threshold is reached.
  4. Once the threshold has been reached, all of you go off and edit the article, and the nomination gets archived.
  5. If the threshold has not been reached after two weeks, a page maintainer (see list on talk page) may suggest to reduce the number of people requested for the collaboration. If the proposer does not agree or respond and the threshold not reached within another week, or if a new threshold is agreed but is not reached within another week, the nomination will be regarded as failed. Part of the reason for this is that potential contributors may have lost interest by this time, and the number of people signed up may not be a true reflection of interest. You may renominate at any time, no matter whether or not the article has been successful after a previous nomination.

Beautifully simple. Here is a template for nominations:

===[[ARTICLE]]===
====(1 volunteer, needs x to go ahead)====
''Nominated: TODAY'S DATE''

; Joined:
# (sign with four tildes)

; Comments:
* (put your reason for nomination, sign again)

New nominations go to the top of the nominations section.

Notes[edit]

  • ^ At least one edit should be more than a minor correction of grammar, spelling or formatting.
