The purpose of Wikipediholism user warning templates is to guide Wikipediholics. Issuing more than one warning level simultaneously serves no purpose, since they did not get the first warning before you escalated to the next resort. If the user stopped editing some time ago, and their edit histories don't suggest a pattern of chronic Wikiholism, there's no need to warn them at all. Likewise, if a user is in the midst of an obviously self-harmful editing spree, there's no need to warn them before temporarily dubbing them a social outcast.
These templates are placed on talk pages to warn a user against Wikiholism, convey a standardised message, or to place a standard boilerplate note at the top of a page. You are responsible for ensuring that the template's text is appropriate to the violation: if the template's tone isn't appropriate, don't use the template. They are not a formal system that you have to use: they are a shortcut to typing, nothing more. If you cannot find a template that says what you want to say then go ahead and say it normally.
- Administrator note: While blocking for Wikipediholism is not usually advised, if a particularly serious case is found, please block the user with a fake reason like "needs more exercise."
- Level 1 – Assumes good faith. Generally advises the user to contribute to society as an alternative to withering away on Wikipedia.
- Level 2 – No faith assumption
- Level 3 – Assumes bad faith; cease and desist Wikipediholism
- Level 4 – Assumes bad faith; strong cease and desist, last warning
- Level 4im – Assumes bad faith; strong cease and desist, first and only warning
Warnings and notices
Welcome to your umpteenth year on Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to live constructively, at least part of your life did not appear to be constructive because you were using Wikipedia. However, please do not use recreational drugs in the place of any further editing you would like to make. Instead, take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing constructively to society. Thank you.
Please refrain from making unconstructive contributions to society. Your recent obsessive editing spree on Wikipedia appears to constitute absolutely nothing and has been reverted. If you would like to experiment, please do not use recreational drugs. Thank you.
Please stop your obsessive editing on Wikipedia. If your uselessness continues, you will be blocked from editing.
This is the last warning you will receive for your Wikipediholism. If you edit Wikipedia again, you will be a social outcast.
This is the only warning you will receive for your Wikipediholism.
If you edit Wikipedia again, you will be nominated for administratorship.
