A picture of me at the 2023 Wikimedia ZA annual general meeting held on 18 November 2023.

Hi, there. I'm Lefcentreright and welcome to my user page. My username refers to the left-right political spectrum. I love politics, much to the dismay of the people around me. I was born in Cape Town and I'm currently studying towards a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Cape Town. My mother tongue or moedertaal is Afrikaans but I can also understand/speak English very well. I became a Wikipedia contributor in June 2017 with Ourcountry.ourfuture as my initial account. Due to me forgetting the password and not being able to recover it, I had to make this account.

My interests include South African politics, African politics, British politics, American politics, Canadian politics, Middle Eastern politics, Irish politics, history, philosophy, and golf. I find South African politics intriguing. Note that I am not a member of any South African political party. I want to be independent, so that my work here on Wikipedia is unbiased, truthful and not just slanted towards a specific point of view or ideology.

Here on Wikipedia, I see myself as a WikiChef. Sometimes when I am very motivated, I will try to bring an article to Good article status. As of May 2020, Alan Winde and Naledi Pandor are my two GAs. I've also created nine DYKs: Kantibhai Patel, Joshua Sacco, Mike Venaani, Kay Moonsamy, Joan Fubbs, Kenny Motsamai, Marlene van Staden, Wynand Boshoff and Makoti Khawula.

I am a new page reviewer and regularly patrol the Special:NewPagesFeed (both articles and drafts). I am also a pending changes reviewer. Now and again, I will go and !vote at an AfD. On 17 November 2019, I was named Editor of the Week. This was the description: Tireless effort on behalf of South African political articles. Writes and sources above average. A pleasure to interact with. Alwys thankful for assistance. Excellent contributions. Loves politics but remains nonpartisan when editing and contributing. Thanks Girth Summit!

I am also active on a lot of smaller wikis. I am an administrator on the Afrikaans Wikipedia, helping to patrol the recent changes and fight vandalism. It's still small enough for me to review all the edits made by IPs, vandals, etc.

I strive for WP:Neutrality and WP:Verifiability. Wikipedia has a vital role and it would be heartbreaking for it to become a promotional website filled with PR nonsense. I detest paid editing in its entirety and nothing irritates me more than when I encounter an article written to be a puff piece. Paid editors and their clients must voetsek off of Wikipedia.
