Here is a rough guideline to my view on the notability of buildings or other man-made structures:
A building is notable and merits inclusion in Wikipedia if it meets any of the following criteria:
1. It is of architectural importance due to its status as a superlative example of that type of building (i.e. tallest skyscraper, oldest dormitory). This critera can be applied on a national level (i.e. the oldest standing building in the United Kingdom) but should not be applied locally (i.e. the tallest dorm on a college campus).
2. The building is the architectural work of a notable architect.
3. The building is itself unique or considered historically revolutionary due to the construction methods or materials used in building it.
4. The building can reasonably be considered to be a nationally known, local landmark (like a sports arena or stadium for a nationally recognized team) or has been designated as a historical point of interest by a national government.
If the building is the site of an incident or happening which has proven, lasting historical importance, the building should be mentioned in the main article on said incident.
5. The building has been the subject of a nontrivial article by a third-party source.
This criteria should not be applied to elementary, secondary, or high schools, but it should be applied to individual buildings (i.e. dormitories, class halls, student unions, etc.) on a college or university campus.
