While I am obviously not the most experienced wikipedian, as seen in my previous requests for this permission, I feel that I after have taken a short time away from major editing, which admittedly isn't the best idea, but I have still been around reading some policies, which has lead to me considering myself capable of being a rollbacker, along with the fact that I have developed policy knowledge from being a NPR and PCR since the last request I made. I would benefit from the perm, because the tools such as Huggle and SWViewer would make it possible for me to make more contributions and SWViewer is somewhat possible to use on mobile, which is often when I don't edit Wikipedia because I am on mobile. I do a significant amount of reverting vandalism, and have probably reverted thousands of instances at this point. Many of these are edits that have gone undetected for years, so rollback would not help with those; some instances, however, are the latest edit, and since I find vandalism by searching for common terms/phrases, they are almost always obvious cases. Such searches usually return hundreds or thousands of possibly vandalized cases, so rollback would speed up the process. Hundreds or thousands of pages also means a lot of potential false positives (e.g., typos, pubic => public being the classic examples) and accidental additions (e.g. page splits carrying vandalism with them), so I'm used to sussing out those. Since it may be mentioned: I have not been warning IPs who are inactive and whose vandalism has occurred a while ago, as there is very little chance they will see it. I can start if you'd like, but for that kind of user it seems like wasted effort. (I am somewhat scared of what the bot will say my edit count is...) Gnomingstuff (talk) 18:47, 29 March 2023 (UTC) |
