Name of Turkey[edit]

I don't think it's a wise decision to paste the entire article from Name of Turkey to History of the Turkish People. Much of the original article of Name of Turkey actually does not talk about the "Turks" as an ethnic group, but about the NAMES that had been historically conferred on the land we now call "Turkey". I totally disagree with putting all this information under "History of the Turkish People". Please, this revert is not about if the material you paste is correct or wrong. It is about matching the intention of the title and the content. Look at the article "Name of Istanbul." The article should only include "etymology of the word TURKEY", same as the name of Istanbul. You are performing WP:OR by including unrelated content in the article. If this continues, you will receive opposition, which might end up removal of the article. It is better if you tell your story in its correct place, which fits to history of Turkish people. Please, check the article history of Turkish people and you will see that that content is the correct article what you want to say. This article is about etymology, not history. Chifa[edit]

Chifa is a term used in Peru to refer to a style of food produced by the fusion of creole Limean food with Chinese food brought by Chinese immigrants mainly from the province of Canton in the late 19th and early 20th Centuries. It is also used to define a restaurant where this type of food is served.^[1] Chifa has become one of the most popular types of food in Peru and has achieved international notoriety. The term chifa probably comes from the mandarin 酒饭 jiǔfàn which means food and drink^{[citation needed]}. However, the jiǔfàn is highly speculative and disputed. A more plausible origin of the name "chifa" seems to be a corruption of the Mandarin phrase "chi fan" (吃饭, eat rice, eat meal) which is supported by a similar corruption, "chaofa" in the Peruvian colloquial language, which should actually be "chao fan" (炒饭, fried rice) in mandarin. Despite the fact that the founding element of the Andean Chinese community has been Cantonese, Mandarin words were used in the creation of the name "chifa" (as Mandarin "chi" in Cantonese is either "heg", "sek" or "yag", a far cry from the chosen name). This is an interesting trivia that highlights the prestige of Mandarin (then not yet the standard official language of China, only that of the Mandarin official class) in a 19th and early 20th century overseas Cantonese community. Similar prestige of Mandarin among the early modern period overseas Cantonese or Hokkienese can be found in Jose Rizal's studying the language as perceived part of his ethnic heritage. To emply "chi fan" (eat meal), a verbal phrase as a noun is rather crude and incorrect grammatically in Chinese. This implies a rather uneducated and informal use of a Mandarin term by the Cantonese. The lack of proper Cantonese word for "cuisine" and the lack of knowledge in Mandarin could be the cause. The similar type of overseas Cantonese cuisine is called Chop suey in North American, a culinary term nonexistent in China proper. This means overseas Cantonese cuisine, called "Chifa" and "Chopsuey" variably, lacked a common name when it was first invented.

Transfer to Wiktionary and delete from Wikipedia. No need for an encyclopedia article. As Oda Mari noted, it's just the Japanese term for "hearing things" as in "I must be hearing things." A comedian uses it as the title of a segment of a television show. Some English speakers use the term as a borrowing from the television show. That doesn't merit an encyclopedia article. Keep precisely because this is the English wikipedia, and coverage of other cultures is not just suitable but necessary. This is apparently a genre of joke, and considered a notable genre there, and therefore worth an article. As for examples, I think the number is modest, just bout right to make the point--about half were clear enough for even a non Japanese-speaker american like me to smile. Keep This is a very popular mode of humor in Japanese culture. Someone who can access Japanese academic articles should check to see if there are actually articles on this comedy style. Soramimi kashi (空耳歌詞; literally, misheard lyrics) is a word used in the Japanese language to describe lyrics of a song that sound like the original, but are actually made up.

An example would be the Moldovan band O-Zone's song Dragostea din tei or Maiyahi (マイヤヒー, named from the words that start the song - ma-ia-hii, ma-ia-huu...).One line of the original lyrics are:

Alo, salut. Sunt eu, un haiduc. (Translation: "Hello, greetings, it's me, an outlaw.")One of the Japanese soramimi kashi of that line is:
Arrow 猿すげぇ… うん? 拝読 (Arou saru sugee... un? haidoku) (Translation: "Arrow, monkey, amazing... Yeah? Reading.")

Japanese comedian and TV personality Tamori has had a long-running "Soramimi Hour" segment on his TV program ( Tamori Club), where he and his co-host watch mini-skits based on soramimi kashi submitted by the audience.
