Somewhat to my surprise, I have found that some articles in my 1980 print edition of the New Grove are more extensive, or in other ways superior, to the much larger edition found online (www.grovemusic.com -- subscription only). Here they are, as I find them:

  • Albert Schweitzer
  • Anshel Brusilow (Doesn't exist at all in the new version! founder of the Chamber Symphony of Philadelphia, and highly-regarded conductor by audiophiles of 1950s and 1960s era LPs)
  • Andreas Pevernage The article in the 1980 edition gives a better idea of his musical style, and while the updated (2001) article may be more accurate with regard to his life, it's very slim on this interesting composer.
