BrokenSegue removed the links to the Commons at the bottom of this template. I restored them. My rationale is:

  • Both Commons and English Wikipedia are Wikimedia projects. We promote these projects constantly through sister project templates. Since a sister project template is not appropriate on the pages where this template is used, these navigational links make sense.
  • The Wikimedia Commons is particularly important to promote, as we want to encourage uploading and nominating free content on the Commons. The Commons is also frequently cited in FPC discussions, so it's good to have handy links clearly visible at the top of the page.
  • English is the main language used in FPC discussions on the Commons. That means there's a natural interest of people working on the English Wikipedia to also look at the featured pictures on Commons. These links are convenient for people for whom Commons is part of their "wikiflow".
