Template:TWLJ/doc

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Generates a nav box with links that go to database search pages of partners of the Wikipedia Library. Optional template parameters are available to configure the nav links to go directly to the partner search result page for the given query terms.

Usage[edit]

  • {{TWLJ}}
  • {{TWLJ|kw=search keywords}}
  • {{TWLJ|search1=Keywords 1  |disp1=Pipe 1  |...  |search10=Keywords 10  |disp10=Pipe10}}

This template is not for use in main space.

Parameters[edit]

One keyword parameter for configuring nav links, and up to ten pairs of parameters (searchN / dispN), where 'N' is in the range 1..10. All parameters are optional.

  • |kw=, search keywords that are used to embed the given query terms into all of the nav links in the box; see details below

Note: all of the remaining parameters are for populating the optional "favorite searches" in the "above" bar:

  • |search1=, search keywords for your 1st "favorite search" to display in the "above" bar
  • |disp1=, use this text for the display text (i.e., the pipe text) for the 1st favorite search

  • |search2=, search keywords for your 2nd "favorite search" to display in the "above" bar
  • |disp2=, use this text for the piped display text for the 2nd favorite search

  • . . . more pairs of search keywords, and pipe text; up to ten maximum

  • |search10=, search keywords for your 10th "favorite search" to display in the "above" bar
  • |disp10=, use this text for the piped display text for the 10th favorite search

Details[edit]

  • All of the parameters are optional.
  • Params |kw= and the series of |searchN params operate differently:
    • |kw= alters the operation of every link in the nav box, so that when you click the link of one of the partners, say, JSTOR, it executes the query at JSTOR with those query terms.
    • The series of |searchN params do not change the operation of the nav box links; they are used only to add "favorite search" links to the "above" bar right under the title bar.
  • You can skip search param numbers, for example, you can have params |search1= and |search3= but not |search2=.
  • However, if any search parameters are present at all, the first one must be |search1=.

Expand and collapse[edit]

This template's initial visibility currently defaults to expanded, meaning that it is fully visible.

To change this template's initial visibility, the |state= parameter may be used:

  • {{TWLJ|state=collapsed}} will show the template collapsed, i.e. hidden apart from its title bar.
  • {{TWLJ|state=autocollapse}} will show the template autocollapsed, i.e. if there is another collapsible item on the page (a navbox, sidebar, or table with the collapsible attribute), it is hidden apart from its title bar, but if not, it is fully visible.
