Lagan Canal[edit]

McLeave's Lock on the Lagan Canal

  • ... that the Lagan Canal (pictured) was once one of the most successful canals in Ireland but closed in the 1950s after succumbing to competition from road and rail transport?

  • The length, date of creation and sources are fine. I could not tell if there were any copyvio issues because the main sources were offline. I do not believe the image is permissible for DYK because it does not appear in the article. There are a number of other suitable images which could be substituted. I don't think the hook statement "was one of the most prosperous canals in Ireland" is supported by a reference in the article. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 10:42, 30 December 2011 (UTC)
  • I've replaced the image with one that appears in the article, amended the DYK hook and added a reference for the hook statement. Prioryman (talk) 00:27, 31 December 2011 (UTC)
  • All fit and ready to go. It's a better, clearer image too. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 13:22, 31 December 2011 (UTC)
