Untitled[edit]

This article has quite a few problems with it, first and foremost being that parts of it have been wholesale copied from another website (see the Biographic Information and quotes website). I am deleting all that has been copied, because it is an infringement on someone else's work, and second because the website from which it was copied was put together by Michael Savage. I have no like or dislike for Mr. Savage, but I would not trust his researching skills. Some of the information copied over is just plain wrong, like Mr. Boykin was commander of the raid in Mogadishu, Somalia (see Battle_of_Mogadishu. This he was not. He was not the general in command (General Garrison), or the battle commander. If anyone has any other knowledge that would disprove this, please let me know. Mr. Boykin was indeed in Mogadishu. He was a colonel at the time and did command Delta Force in trying to capture Mohamed Farah Aideed. Have a look here at the Washington Post for details regarding this. krou 10:03, 16 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've added the grafs on Boykin's possible cover-up of abuses and on his possible involvement with Israeli counterinsurgency advisers. Given how difficult it is to know about secret ops, it seems to me that citing news articles as such gets the allegations out there while bracketing them as news reports, not gospel. --Andersonblog 21:06, 18 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've added in a section on Boykin's connection to Jack Idema. While I realise Jack Idema was widely considered a fantasist, I still think it's necessary to reveal the claims that he made. I did try to make it perfectly clear that he was not widely seen as credible. If anyone thinks this section shouldn't be included, feel free to shout! krou 20:19, 21 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

General Boykin is perhaps a bit eccentric in his religious beliefs, and he has certainly spoken out in public and said politically incorrect things that others would be too intimidated to say. "Unprofessional remarks." Boykin has been censured by the Pentagon for comparing U.S. counter-terrorism efforts to a holy war, and he has a history of fear mongering about the threat of radical Islam.

BOYKIN: "I will look at you now and say, we are going to see an Islamic republic in Egypt, and it is going to be an Islamic republic where Sharia law is the law of the land. And regardless of what the leadership of our country says, and what our intelligence community says, the Muslim Brotherhood was created to establish global sharia law. And that has not changed and they tell us that, and we need to keep remembering that Anwar Sadat was killed by the Muslim Brotherhood because of his support for Israel and the Camp David accords." Early Military Service[edit]

Boykin's service dates as listed are confusing. In the right-hand side information box it shows his services years as 1971-2007, which does not match the body of the article. The body gives an initial period of service prior to 1971, and the skips to 1978. What was his early military career during the missing years?

Retirement[edit]

When and why did Boykin retire? I don't have this information but believe it would be pertinent.

Family Research Council[edit]

Should note be made that the Southern Poverty Law Center classified the FRC as an anti-gay hate group?

Removal of sentences concerning William Arkin[edit]

I removed the material below from the article. The main reason for this is that William Arkin's allegations about Boykin should be given before he is accused of taking Boykin out of context. Arkin may have taken Boykin's statements out of context (I have no idea), but we need to know what statements are bing talked about. There is no content before these sentences that contains Arkin's comments on Boykin. There are only two other mentions of Arkin in the article. The first states that Arkin is a source of "video and audiotapes of Boykin". Nothing is given on Arkin's actions or remarks about the tapes. The second mention is this: "In 2010, Boykin was one of two "team leaders" of Team B II which released a report entitled Shariah: The threat to America. An exercise in competitive analysis, published by the Center for Security Policy, which William Arkin and Dana Priest described as "a Washington-based neoconservative think tank." Neither of these mentions of Arkin gives enough information to make the claim that I removed from the article. Hypothetically, if the article said that Arkin edited the video or audiotapes in a manner that removed the context of Boykin's statements, then we would have something. I am not saying that Arkin has been accused of this. It is completely made up, by me.

I do not support or condemn Boykin or Arkin. I just want all of Wikipedia's articles to be of high quality. I am not that interested in this topic, and I will not be monitoring this article. I was just looking up who Boykin is because of a news article. If there is material out there for either position that is from a high-quality source, please put it in the article. If you want my input for some reason, you will need to use my user talk page.

William Arkin was accused of taking Boykin out of context. Arkin's impartiality was called into question, since he worked for [[Greenpeace]], [[Human Rights Watch]] and the [[Institute for Policy Studies]].
