Flags and other bells and whistles[edit]

@Anonymousboii: has been readding the flag and emblem of the Order of the Star of India to this, the United Provinces page. The United Provinces did not have its own flag. It is quite ridiculous to people to add or restore these flags. Be warned, Wikipedia has strictures for such disruption. Fowler&fowler«Talk» 22:49, 14 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Fowler&fowler:It seems like you use the term "bells and whistles" whenever something doesn't go your way. When we discussed this on the British Raj page, you pointed out that I can't apply the flag of British-controlled India to the entire Indian Empire, because the princely states were allowed to fly their own flags. Then, I tried adding a simple infobox for British India (similar to the British Empire page), which you could've easily edited to suit the article better, but you pointed out that the page was about individual provinces (I mean the British Empire page is about individual Crown colonies as well), but I still agreed with you there. Not to mention that I didn't even add the flag image here, I merely linked it to the Star of India (flag) page, despite the flag being appropriate here because (just like you said on the Raj talk page) it applies to territories in India under direct British administration. And yet, despite presenting you with scholarly, pre-1947 citations (such as this, this and this one (and photographs, although those don't fall under Wikipedia guidelines) for proof of the flag, you continue to deny it. You also had a meltdown when I changed the Infobox name of the Raj article from "India" to "Indian Empire", as per the sources that you yourself provided, and have asked people to simply "trust you" as explanations for a revert. P.S., this is the first time I've been on this page, and haven't been adding the Star of India emblem on this page at all like you claim. Please keep baseless accusations out of Wikipedia.-- friendlyneighborhoodanon 23:10, 14 May 2019 (UTC)
friendlyneighborhoodanon, could you please provide the text in the sources that state that the "Star of India" represented the United Provinces of Agra and Oudh? I can't find any mention of Agra in two of the sources and the third one appears to point to a list of articles in German. I'm removing the flag pending verification. Thanks. --regentspark (comment) 03:26, 15 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@RegentsPark: The real reason I believe the flag should be on here is because of the lengthy discussion we had on the Raj talk page, which concluded that flags of British India must end up on British India-related articles, and not Princely States\Indian Empire ones. Also, just like I can't explicitly prove the flag of modern India is also used in Uttar Pradesh, I can't explicitly prove that the flag of British India was also used in the United Provinces (all apples are fruit but not all fruits are apples, see WP:OVERCITE). So I will add the flag back after a few days until it can be proven that it was NOT the Star of India used in the UP, but some other flag, and will consider any revert without explicit citation an edit war. My question is: if the Star of India flag was never given enough importance in British India (as Fowler&fowler tries to imply with at least three reverts and no reason on every article), why on Earth are there so many photos, videos, books, posters etc. depicting it's use? Why does every Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo and Yahoo of "British India" returns this flag or some variant of it? What is it about this flag that is purposefully being neglected?-- friendlyneighborhoodanon 03:44, 15 May 2019 (UTC)
