Major?[edit]

While there are sources for Henshaw's service in the French Scottish guards, it is possible that this is confusion with the cousin Thomas Henshaw, as the pamphlet is said to be. Charles Matthews (talk)

The family background is confusing, but [1] appears to be quite a full source. I guess Thomas Henshaw, grandfather to this one, was the "silkman to King James I" who gives the link to the Backhouse family via Flower Henshaw; and that he and his son Benjamin were merchant tailors. "But can´t go into articles yet" - it is in the article, with reference to the old Dictionary of National Biography, which is obviously outdated (in the last sentence in the section "works" the source for this career, an old pamphlet from 1654, is connected with another Thomas Henshaw, with reference to the new Oxford Dictionary of National Biography). There is no mention of a military career in Donald Dickson: Thomas Henshaw and Sir Robert Paston's Pursuit of the Red Elixir: An Early Collaboration between Fellows of the Royal Society, Notes and Records of the Royal Society, Band 51, 1997, S. 57-76.--Claude J (talk) 10:05, 22 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
