I decided to undo your complete REDIRECT of this Article page to, Derek Jeter. Yes, The Player's Tribune is Co-Founded by Derek Jeter as well as a Business Interest, however it is a media platform that has grown and developed and has received a wide-range attention and has been reported by many other media outlets. It is a noteworthy article that deserves it's own article main page and not a redirect. Ibarabi (talk) 16:16, 2 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Title[edit]

The title of this article is missing the apostrophe after "Players". 108.254.160.23 (talk) 02:43, 22 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Reducing unnecessary press-release-type info[edit]

I see no need for the complete list of athletes who have contributed: it looks to me like self-promotion by The Players' Tribune. Cut or at least reduce? Also: can we cut the blow-by-blow of who invested how much on what date? Do we really need the list of advertising partners?

Agreed, if every site had an exhuastive list of contributors their pages would look like a memorial wall. I took out the list of contributors and just left staff members.Amicable Gent (talk) 00:04, 16 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

History update request[edit]

Hello editors, I'm M and I work for Minute Media. I was hoping one of you might be kind enough to look over an update request for the History section of the article. The Players' Tribune expanded to Japan and Brazil in 2021, and I was hoping we might be able to include that with a sentence kind of like this at the end of the History section:

In 2021, The Players' Tribune expanded into Brazil and Japan, partnering with NBA player Yuta Watanabe Will, Formula 1 driver Yuki Tsunoda, and soccer player Mana Iwabuchi in the Japanese expansion.[1][2][3]

History request[edit]

Hi editors, M here again with another request to update the History section. I thought we could trim it down a little bit and cut some of the content related to leadership that is outdated and some of the funding rounds that is, by my understanding, not entirely appropriate for Wikipedia. I also tried to cut the primary sources as I understand those are not appropriate for Wikipedia either. I thought the new content might look something like this:

Extended content

The Players' Tribune launched in October 2014 by Jeter and Messler as a means for athletes to offer more direct insight into their lives.[1][2] The outlet began collecting venture capital funds in 2015 and entered a "next phase" which included expanding content from the written word to include podcasts, video, and a presence on SiriusXM satellite radio.[2] The same year, the outlet launched TPT Assist, a cause-related platform designed to allow athletes to share their philanthropic endeavors.[3] In 2018, The Players' Tribune purchased Unscriptd, a tech startup that produces short-form video content. The following year, the outlet laid off eight employees.[4]

Technology and content company Minute Media purchased The Players' Tribune in November 2019, adding the outlet to a group of properties that includes DBLTAP, 90min, The Big Lead, FanSided and Mental Floss.[5][6]

Heartmusic678, you were kind enough to review the last request, might you be willing to take a look at this one, too? I'd really appreciate it! Thanks in advance for your help. Hi @M at MinuteMedia: Below is my suggestion for adhering to WP:NPOV in the hope of getting the promotional tag removed from the page. Please let me know what you think. Looking forward to your feedback. Thanks, Heartmusic678 (talk) 12:03, 28 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Extended content

The Players' Tribune was founded in October 2014 by Derek Jeter and Jaymee Messler to offer more direct insight into the lives of athletes.[1][2]

The Players' Tribune began collecting venture capital funds in 2015 and initially circulated in digital print only. It soon included podcasts, video, and a presence on SiriusXM satellite radio.[2] That same year, The Players' Tribune launched TPT Assist, a section of the website featuring philanthropic endeavors.[3]

In 2018, The Players' Tribune purchased Unscriptd, a tech startup company that produces short-form video content. The following year, The Players' Tribune laid off eight employees. (I was unable to access this and related articles, but it is worth discussing why this happened in relation to expenses and the consideration of a possible sale. This is notable and will tie in with the sentence that follows)[4]

Technology and content company Minute Media purchased The Players' Tribune in November 2019.[5][6]

Hi Heartmusic678, thanks for the detailed response! I am in agreement with your wording changes, though maybe we could substitute a few of the instances of "The Players’ Tribune" for a pronoun like "the site" or "the outlet," just to break it up a little?
As for the layoffs, I was not able to find much content in reliable sources about them. The sentence from 'Bloomberg' I was referencing was this one:
  • Last year, the Players’ Tribune purchased Unscriptd, a tech startup with a network of more than 2,500 athletes in Europe, Australia and Asia, creating and publishing short-form videos. The company later went through a round of layoffs, according to Digiday.
I wasn't able to find much else other than a quote from CEO Jeff Levick saying the layoffs are related to a new direction we went as a company. That was in this Digiday article that Bloomberg referenced:
  • “These decisions are never easy and are not taken lightly,” Levick said in a statement. “The decision was made as part of a shift in our business strategy to better position The Players’ Tribune moving forward — taking into account the acquisition we announced in December. We are committed to continue delivering the best products for our fans, partners, investors and athlete community. We will provide an update on our next steps in the near future.”
The Digiday article talks a little about the changes that Mr. Levick made, including changing the focus of the Tribune to look at other areas of revenue generation, including branded content and "developing, producing and selling shows to TV and streaming platforms."
The Bloomberg article also mentions a potential sale of The Players’ Tribune (which as we know, did happen) but there isn't much else I could find in reliable sources about that other than what was in the Variety source included in the list. The Bloomberg article said this about the potential sale:
  • The Players’ Tribune, a website started by baseball star Derek Jeter, is exploring a potential sale, according to people familiar with the matter. The New York-based digital media company is working with a financial advisor and could be sold in the coming weeks, said the people, asking not to be named because the matter is private. It’s not clear how much it is worth.
I don't know how helpful that is, but hopefully that will work? I really appreciate you taking the time to take a look and try to address the advertisement tag! Thanks so much! M at MinuteMedia (talk) 20:31, 30 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@M at MinuteMedia: Thank you and that is helpful. Here is the updated version. Please let me know your thoughts. Heartmusic678 (talk) 13:02, 31 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Heartmusic678: That looks good to me except for one tiny detail. Our CEO's name is Jeff Levick. It looks like there are a couple of extra letters in there. Thank you so much for taking the time to work through this with me! M at MinuteMedia (talk) 18:45, 31 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi editors, per this conversation with Quetstar, I am reopening this request. I hope you will see that the changes I have proposed and further worked through with other editors are an improvement to the article that meets Wikipedia guidelines. Thanks in advance for your help! Content request[edit]

Hello editors, M here again with another request, this time in the Content and platform section. I've drafted a potential replacement for the first two paragraphs. I hope that you'll see this is an improvement in several ways.

  • First, I've removed or replaced a bunch of content that's using primary sources (articles from the Tribune).
  • Second, where appropriate, I've provided some brief mentions of where stories have broken into larger conversations.
  • Third, I've removed some language that could be considered promotional or mission-statement like, particularly the second sentence of this section and the last sentence of this section, which became redundant after the last changes were made
  • Fourth, I added some content related to podcasts that the Tribune produces and sourced it to reliable sources.
  • Finally, I changed the language about how Tribune stories are written, which currently feels like it does not have an impartial tone. I tried to make that section as neutral as I could and included an additional article from the New York Times to help clarify the process that these stories go through to reach publication. My goal here is to clarify the nature of the relationship between athletes and Tribune staff and provide additional context on how content is produced.
Extended content

The platform's content includes first-person written stories, videos, podcasts, and photo galleries. Topics covered by the platform include mental health, athlete retirements, social justice issues, and more.[9][2] All content is approved by the athletes before it is posted, with some exercising greater control over the finished product than others. The content is produced in partnership between the athlete and the outlet's editorial team, with close oversight by the athlete.[9][10] The site's former editorial director, Gary Hoenig, noted the stories are largely crafted from "monologues, with questions to nudge the conversation along," rather than a traditional interview.[9]

Athletes such as former MLB player David Ortiz and former NBA player Kobe Bryant have used the platform to announce their retirements.[11]Cite error: A <ref> tag is missing the closing </ref> (see the help page).

Pieces from athletes have on occasion broken into mainstream media conversations, including articles by Kevin Love and Larry Sanders on mental health,[12][13] Natasha Cloud on racism and social justice,[14] and Breanna Stewart on child sexual abuse.[15]

In addition to written pieces, the outlet also produces podcasts and videos, notably the Knuckleheads podcast, hosted by former NBA players Quentin Richardson and Darius Miles;[16] Truss Levelz, hosted by NFL players Cameron Jordan and Mark Ingram II;[17] and Blindsided, hosted by former NHL player Corey Hirsch and Dr. Diane McIntosh.[18]

Heartmusic678, you've been so helpful, would you be willing to take a look at these revisions too? I'd really appreciate it! M at MinuteMedia (talk) 14:29, 5 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi M at MinuteMedia I'm sorry I will not be able to address this or future edit request, so I am going to defer to other editors. Thanks for understanding, Heartmusic678 (talk) 20:05, 5 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Heartmusic678, thank you for letting me know and for all your help so far! M at MinuteMedia (talk) 22:06, 5 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Recent reversions[edit]

Hi Quetstar, I noticed you reverted some recent edits that were made based on my requests. I think they helped improve the article and I worked with Heartmusic to improve the tone/language to make the changes more neutral. Can you please tell me how I can improve those requests and changes so they can be reinstated? I'd really appreciate it! M at MinuteMedia (talk) 22:06, 5 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@M at MinuteMedia: Heartmusic's reviewing process for COI requests is questionable. For example, they made changes to articles without checking the sourcing or the neutrality of the text, as demonstrated at Talk:FreedomWorks. While I belive that the requests are adequately sourced and have a neutral tone, I decided to revert them in order to protect the integrity of the COI review process and WP's policies. I am open to reinstating them, but they will have to be reviewed more thoroughly to ensure compliance. Quetstar (talk) 23:28, 5 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
UPDATE: After reading this discussion, I have decided against reinstating the requests. If you want them to be restored, they must be resubmitted to the queue or brought to another editor for reconsideration. Quetstar (talk) 23:58, 5 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Quetstar, thank you for your quick response and letting me know. I will reopen the prior requests. M at MinuteMedia (talk) 17:28, 6 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

New simplified history request[edit]

Hi editors, M here again. I thought I would try to simplify my previous requests with the hope that they might be easier to implement. I wanted to start with the History section as I think that will be the easiest.

Can we change the first two sentences from "The Players' Tribune was launched on October 1, 2014, by Derek Jeter. Its first contributors were senior editors Russell Wilson, Blake Griffin, Danica Patrick and Kevin Love." to "The Players' Tribune launched in October 2014 by Derek Jeter and Messler as a means for athletes to offer more direct insight into their lives.[1][2]"

References

  2. ^ Guthrie, Marisa; Feinberg, Scott (July 29, 2015). "Derek Jeter Wants Another Big Hit". The Hollywood Reporter. Retrieved October 13, 2021.

I think this change 1) offers greater context on why the Tribune was founded and improves the sourcing 2) removes sources that are inappropriate based on my understanding of the primary sources policy and 3) removes a list of names of our early contributors that could be seen as promotional. Please let me know what you think! I won't make any changes myself due to my conflict of interest. Thank you in advance for your help! M at MinuteMedia (talk) 16:09, 3 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Muboshgu:, I hope this isn't out of line. I got to thinking about the previous requests I had and realized that it was a lot for an editor to review, so I closed them and cut them way down to this one. Would you have an interest in reviewing this request? If not I totally understand! Just wanted to keep you involved if you still had an interest. M at MinuteMedia (talk) 20:53, 8 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Not out of line at all. I think the last requests were alot, I must've gotten distracted in the middle of looking at them and didn't remember to come back to it. I'll take a look into this one later. – Muboshgu (talk) 23:11, 8 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
 Done I modified your proposal. How's that? – Muboshgu (talk) 03:59, 9 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Muboshgu:, I will keep in mind that those requests are too big for the future! Thanks for taking a look. I like the change you made. One thing I had proposed was removing the sentence "Its first contributors were senior editors Russell Wilson, Blake Griffin, Danica Patrick and Kevin Love." because it's sourced to primary sources and might be seen as name-dropping or promotional. Are you okay with leaving that sentence in? M at MinuteMedia (talk) 16:34, 9 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Muboshgu: just wanted to check one more time if you were okay with that sentence about the first athlete contributors! Please let me know! M at MinuteMedia (talk) 20:49, 14 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Done This reads to me as an improvement. – Muboshgu (talk) 04:19, 13 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Expansion to podcasts update[edit]

Hi editors, M here again with a request to update the sentence about the Tribune's growth in podcasts. I propose changing the sentence "On February 13, 2015, The Players' Tribune announced it was entering a "next phase," which, according to Jeter, involved the addition of "podcasts, digital video, Sirius satellite radio, plus much more of the kinds of stories we’ve already been telling."" to "The outlet began collecting venture capital funds in 2015 and entered a "next phase" which included expanding content from the written word to include podcasts, video, and a presence on SiriusXM satellite radio.[1]" (note: this reference is named in earlier in the article, I'm just including the whole thing so it shows up correctly here)

References

  1. ^ Guthrie, Marisa; Feinberg, Scott (July 29, 2015). "Derek Jeter Wants Another Big Hit". The Hollywood Reporter. Retrieved October 13, 2021.

I think this summarizes the quote from Derek Jeter in a way that is less promotional than simply leaving the quote as-is. Please let me know what you think! @Muboshgu:, would you be willing to review this request as well? I'd really appreciate it! M at MinuteMedia (talk) 20:49, 14 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Done Seems fine to me. I notice some other issues with dated terms with the "as of" executives. I will probably cut that as none of them are notable. – Muboshgu (talk) 04:16, 13 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Muboshgu: thank you so much! And you are correct, the information on the executives is outdated. Removing those names was actually going to be my next request. M at MinuteMedia (talk) 13:53, 19 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Removing outdated executives[edit]

Hi editors, M here with another request. As @Muboshgu: pointed out, the listing of executives in the History section is outdated. This source mentions Jaymee Messler leaving in 2019. This source doesn't specifically say that Gary Hoenig left the Tribune, but does mention that he was hired by another magazine. Does that work to at least show the current content is outdated? I haven't been able to find a reliable source that mentions Jeff Levick, Maureen Cavanaugh or Alex Rose leaving the publication but that information is also outdated. Muboshgu, would you have an interest in reviewing this request as well? I'd really appreciate it! M at MinuteMedia (talk) 13:53, 19 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Partly done: Messler leaving per Deadline added. The WaPo only mentions Hoenig leaving ESPN The Magazine. I'll take out other parts that are outdated. – Muboshgu (talk) 17:37, 19 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Muboshgu: thank you for the quick response! M at MinuteMedia (talk) 16:45, 25 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Move TPT Assist sentence and remove venture capital numbers[edit]

Hi editors, M here with another request for the History section. I propose moving the sentence about TPT Assist currently in the Content and platform section from where it is to after the sentence about the Tribune joining SiriusXM, so it would read like this:

The outlet began collecting venture capital funds in 2015 and entered a "next phase" which included expanding content from the written word to include podcasts, video, and a presence on SiriusXM satellite radio.[1] The same year, the outlet launched TPT Assist, a cause-related platform designed to allow athletes to share their philanthropic endeavors.[2]

  1. ^ Cite error: The named reference THR2 was invoked but never defined (see the help page).
  2. ^ Podder, Api (July 29, 2015). "The Players' Tribune Expands With Launch Of TPT Assist, A New Platform Featuring Cause-Related Content". My Social Good News. Archived from the original on May 28, 2019. Retrieved January 7, 2022.

I am also proposing removing the numbers for the venture capital raised, as I am concerned that could be contributing to the "Written like an advertisement" banner at the top of the article and I hope to get that removed. Also, looking at the sourcing for that content, I think it is a little suspect. However, if you feel it is appropriate to keep those numbers, please let me know! @Muboshgu:, you've been so helpful in reviewing, would you consider this request as well? I'd really appreciate it! M at MinuteMedia (talk) 16:45, 25 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Partly done: I made the change re: TPT Assist. I'm inclined to keep the money from venture capital, as it's in the headline of the article cited, and seems relevant enough and not promotional to me. I think the promotion tag was added for other things. I agree that it would be good to get rid of that tag, as long as we have gotten rid of the cause of the tag. I'll take a deeper look to see if I think that's warranted at the time, but I may request a second opinion on that. – Muboshgu (talk) 17:50, 30 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Muboshgu: Thank you for the assist! What you said about the venture capital numbers makes sense. I look forward to seeing what you determine and hopefully the eventual removal of that tag! M at MinuteMedia (talk) 21:02, 5 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

'Advertisement' tag[edit]

@Chris6d:, back in February, you placed a WP:DRIVEBY tag saying this article is an advertisement. You never indicated why you feel this way in detail. The article has changed somewhat in the five months since you placed that tag. Can you please elaborate on why you believe it is needed? Thanks. – Muboshgu (talk) 17:55, 30 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

It's been nearly a week since I posted this and Chris6d has been on Wikipedia but hasn't responded to this. I'm removing the advertisement tag. I do not think this article is promotional. – Muboshgu (talk) 21:55, 5 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Content and platform update[edit]

Hi editors, M here again with another request, this time to make an update to the Content and platform section. I propose replacing the first two sentences of the section with the following two sentences, as these new sentences are more accurate to the current Players Tribune (note: ref 2 here is already named in the article so I didn't include the full reference again).

The platform's content includes first-person written stories, videos, podcasts, and photo galleries. Topics covered by the platform include mental health, athlete retirements, social justice issues, and more.[1][2]

Please let me know what you think! As always I'm open to discussion on this suggestion and won't make any changes myself due to my conflict of interest. @Muboshgu: would you be interested in reviewing this request as well? I'd really appreciate it! M at MinuteMedia (talk) 14:22, 9 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Done This reads as fine to me. The NYT source is an improvement over sports business daily? I forget already what it was. – Muboshgu (talk) 03:38, 18 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I think the NYT source is an improvement too. Thanks for taking a look! M at MinuteMedia (talk) 21:14, 23 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Another Content request[edit]

Hi editors, M here again with another request, and I understand that this one may be a bit tricky. I'm proposing an overhaul to the second paragraph of the Content and platform section. I think the tone of this paragraph could be improved, as right now it reads as though Tribune is trying to hide something and I don't think it quite meets the spirit of the impartial tone guideline. I think it's also currently a bit incomplete and contains content not supported by the sourcing, such as the line which says "gives the appearance that athletes are the sole writers of their posts," which I think could be construed as synthesis as it is not explicitly stated in the cited article.

I propose a replacement paragraph, which will offer more clear explanations about how the Tribune publishes content and hopefully make the tone more neutral. I have done my best to capture a neutral tone with the paragraph I have suggested. I have also done my best to clearly lay out how Tribune stories are produced in a way that still fits an encyclopedic style and make it clear that athletes have total control over the final product. My proposed paragraph also strictly sticks to what it says in the sourcing.

(Note: Reference 1 is already named in the article – it's the Sandomir NYT article – which is why I didn't include it in the box)

All content is approved by the athletes before it is posted, with some exercising greater control over the finished product than others. The content is produced in partnership between the athlete and the outlet's editorial team, with close oversight by the athlete.[1][2] The site's former editorial director, Gary Hoenig, noted the stories are largely crafted from "monologues, with questions to nudge the conversation along," rather than a traditional interview.[1]

Please let me know what you think! As always I won't make any changes myself due to my conflict of interest. I am open to further discussion as well, just wanted to get the conversation started. @Muboshgu:, if you're up for it, I'd really appreciate it if you could take a look at this request! M at MinuteMedia (talk) 21:14, 23 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Partly done I think that overall that this is an improvement. For instance, Hoenig was probably mentioned with his full name previously, but the article only said "Hoenig". However, I think your edit downplays the extent to which the articles are ghostwritten, so I'll adapt from it. – Muboshgu (talk) 20:10, 26 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I appreciate you taking a look at this, Muboshgu! I'm wondering if we can tweak just a little more of that sentence. I hear your concerns about downplaying the ghostwriting, so maybe I can suggest a compromise? My concern is that the current text kind of makes it sound like the Tribune has some kind of nefarious intent by ghostwriting, but I think there is an easy fix, just lopping of the front half of that sentence, so it goes from "Although the site gives the appearance of athletes writing their own blog posts, the vast majority of articles are written by staff at The Players' Tribune, who craft stories based on interviews conducted with the athletes." to "The majority of articles are ghostwritten by staff at The Players' Tribune, who craft stories based on interviews conducted with the athletes."
I think the text is more neutral this way. What do you think? M at MinuteMedia (talk) 22:30, 8 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that can be lopped off. – Muboshgu (talk) 14:46, 22 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you so much! M at MinuteMedia (talk) 20:45, 22 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Podcasts[edit]

Hi editors, M here with another request. As a means of follow up to a previous request where I asked for podcasts produced by the Tribune to be mentioned, I'd like to suggest some of those podcasts be included at the end of the Content and platform section, something like the following:

In addition to written pieces, the outlet also produces podcasts and videos, notably the Knuckleheads podcast, hosted by former NBA players Quentin Richardson and Darius Miles;[1] Truss Levelz, hosted by NFL players Cameron Jordan and Mark Ingram;[2] and Blindsided, hosted by former NHL player Corey Hirsch and Dr. Diane McIntosh.[3]

I think this helps provide that additional information in a succinct way with reliable sources. Please let me know what you think. As always, I won't make any edits myself due to my COI. @Muboshgu:, I hate to keep asking but I've really appreciated your thoughtful responses to my requests, would you be interested in reviewing this one as well? I'd really appreciate it! M at MinuteMedia (talk) 20:45, 22 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Done, not Muboshgu but seems uncontroversial to me. Rusalkii (talk) 05:15, 24 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Not to worry, I've just been working with Muboshgu so I thought I'd ask them first. Thanks so much, @Rusalkii:! M at MinuteMedia (talk) 21:49, 27 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Story content[edit]

Hi editors, M here again with another request. Reading the Content and platform section and knowing that the article had been flagged in the past for promotional content, I'm wondering if it would be best to trim that third paragraph down and remove the links back to the Tribune just to make sure that it all meets sourcing standards. It seems like that paragraph could be construed as name-dropping or in violation of WP:NOTEVERYTHING. I did some research and found mentions of Tribune articles published in other reliable sources and used those to make two new paragraphs to replace the third paragraph in the Content and platform section.

Extended content

Athletes such as former MLB player David Ortiz and former NBA player Kobe Bryant have used the platform to announce their retirements.[1][2] Bryant's retirement announcement, titled "Dear Basketball", was turned into an Academy Award-winning short film of the same name in 2017.[3]

Pieces from athletes have on occasion broken into mainstream media conversations, including articles by Kevin Love and Larry Sanders on mental health,[4][5] Natasha Cloud on racism and social justice,[6] and Breanna Stewart on child sexual abuse.[7]

I think this is a net improvement and improves the quality of the sourcing while making it less likely this paragraph could be seen as promotional. Please let me know what you think! @Rusalkii: or @Muboshgu:, would either of you have any interest in reviewing this request? I'd really appreciate it! Note: the empty citation is already used in the article (a NYT article) so it should populate if the base code is copied over. Cheers! M at MinuteMedia (talk) 21:49, 27 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Not able to find enough reasons to replace the third paragraph. May be we can improve the existing content with some additions but not replacements. Chirota (talk) 07:48, 3 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Chirota, thanks for the response! My thought process with replacing the old paragraph is that it is entirely sourced back to the Tribune (potentially a violation of WP:PRIMARY) and that it is a long list of names of famous athletes and topics they wrote about for the Tribune (potentially a violation of WP:PROMO).
While these topics are important and the stories told are good ones, it didn't seem to me that the length of the paragraph and all the names dropped was the most encyclopedic way to present the information. I dug up secondary sources to be more in-line with sourcing guidelines for that section and shrink it down to be more encyclopedic. However, if you think it's fine, I'm more than happy to close the request! M at MinuteMedia (talk) 19:49, 6 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Chiro725:, I'm just circling back here to see if you had any thoughts? Muboshgu, might you be willing to weigh in here as well? I reached out to Chirota a few weeks ago but haven't heard anything back and it doesn't look like they've edited since October 3. I'd love to keep this moving. Please let me know what you think! @FeldBum: I was wondering if you might be interested in weighing in here? I've really appreciated your insight on FanSided and there hasn't been a response here for quite some time. M at MinuteMedia (talk) 14:59, 15 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Sponsors request[edit]

Hi editors, while I wait for feedback on my last request, I thought I would post the next one. This is a really small request. I was hoping editors would consider adding the Tribune's partnership with American Family Insurance to the Sponsors and partnerships section based on this source. It might look something like this, with the change I'm proposing in bold:

Several sponsors have signed a deal with The Players' Tribune. Porsche debuted as their first sponsor, as well as Powerade, Dove, Toyota, Red Bull, and Built with Chocolate Milk.[1] The outlet partnered with American Family Insurance in 2016 and collaborated with the Amazon Prime Video television series Jack Ryan.[2][3]

Recent additions[edit]

@Drpenguino: I noticed you made a bunch of edits to the article! Thanks for your work there. I did have a couple of suggestions based on those edits that I think will help improve the neutrality and accuracy of the article.

The first request is to make a small wording change to the bit you added about the Durant story. Currently, the Wikipedia article says the Durant story gave the Tribune its biggest day of traffic to date, but that story is 6 years old and that isn't accurate anymore. Would you be willing to change that phrasing to include a timestamp, something like "gave the Tribune its biggest day of traffic as of 2016" or "at the time" or simply remove the timeframe and say something like "the latter of which drew more than 3 million unique visitors"?

The second request is a little trickier and related to the Acquisition section. I request that you remove the content from the New York Post, cited by Digiday. The Post is an unreliable source and even if its reporting is cited in a better source, I think that ruling still applies for Wikipedia purposes. I am also not sure that content is neutral, and I think the section does not lose any critical information if it simply starts with the next sentence ("In November 2019…"). I have a conflict of interest so I won't make these changes myself. Please let me know what you think, and thanks again for being interested in the article!
