  • ... that the Tarzan of Manisa (statue pictured) is considered by some as the first Turkish environmentalist? Source: "Known by some as the “first environmentalist of Turkey,” Bedevi..." ([1])
    • ALT1:... that the Tarzan of Manisa (statue pictured) planted thousands of trees on the Spil Dağı above Manisa, in Turkey? Source: "the environmentalist Ahmet Bedevi, who is legendary for his work in the first half of the last century planting thousands of trees on Mount Spil, or Mount Sipylus in Manisa" ([2])

  • Comment that image is pretty hard to see at that size. The ducks are nice, but maybe a crop on the statue? --valereee (talk) 22:47, 23 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Narutolovehinata5, I'm getting ready to get into the car and make an 8-hour drive, so I probably won't have a chunk of time today. Tomorrow I was planning to fill a set, if needed, but if it's not I could do a review then if no one else picks it up. --valereee (talk) 10:23, 19 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Note to other reviewers that Naruto removed some commentary in this nomination. @Narutolovehinata5: I feel that your edit was rude given I was trying to review your nomination. Killiondude (talk) 19:50, 26 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Killiondude: Firstly, this is not my nomination (my only edit here was to ping the nominator), and secondly it wasn't me who deleted the previous comments here, it was Alessandro57. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 20:26, 26 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Hah. I should pay more attention. Alessandro57: see above. Killiondude (talk) 20:28, 26 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment - I have restored the comments that were removed. Alessandro, please do not remove comments left by other editors, it is considered inappropriate to do so. As for the image, if it's problematic and the hook is not dependent on it, then the hook could run without the image. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 20:37, 26 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Killiondude so you're planning to review? I've been trying to make time but I'm pressed for a chunk of time right now. --valereee (talk) 20:42, 26 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

General: Article is new enough and long enough
Policy: Article is sourced, neutral, and free of copyright problems
Hook: Hook has been verified by provided inline citation

Image eligibility:

QPQ: Done.

Overall: Good to go with Alt1. Picture is not clear at such a small size. Killiondude (talk) 20:49, 27 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Questions[edit]

@Alessandro57: As discussed on my talk page, I haven't looked at the sources and am assuming that you are confident about them, but I've been through the article and addressed a few issues with the language - rephrasing a few sentences, removing some extra spaces, and I've also been through and called him Carlak throughout. We should be consistent in what we call him within the article - if most of the sources use Bedevi then feel free to switch it, so long as we're using either one or the other and not swapping between them. A few other points jumped out at me, but I wasn't sure how to address them:

  • Birthplace - the lead says it's Samarra, and the first part of the Biography section says it's either Samarra or Baghdad, but the cited source following that sentence just says Baghdad, it doesn't mention Samarra. I haven't changed this sentence, but I think it needs tidying up - either we need to just say Baghdad, or we need another source to be used there mentioning Samarra.
  • Dede Niyazi's place - this is mentioned as where he stayed when he visited the city, but it will need some explaining - the reader won't know who Dede Niyazi is, or whether this is referring to a private house, or perhaps a hotel since it mentions a reference. If you're not sure, I'd suggest just removing this bit.
  • The final ref - Margaret Herrick Library, Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. - isn't clear to me. Is it a book?

All in all an informative article about an interesting guy! Cheers GirthSummit (blether) 12:07, 19 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Girth Summit:, done! Later I will add a couple of more infos, but the article now is ready for DYK...Thanks again, now I am going to cook (pasta with artichokes ;-)). Cheers, Alex2006 (talk) 16:24, 19 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
