I would like to work on the section, as the current section is only a stub. I will add references from my library and try to bring this up to a professional level. IMHO there isn't any reason for this move. In literature this coins are always under the name of "Roman Provincial Coins" or, previously, "Greek Imperial Coins" . --Carlo Morino aka zi' Carlo 12:37, 20 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The move was surely a mistake: the page could be at "Greek Imperial ..." or "Roman provincial ...", but not "Roman Imperial ..." -- that's something quite different, about which we have no separate article at present. "Roman provincial coinage" is the clearest name, and I propose to move to that if no one objects. Andrew Dalby 16:20, 21 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

"There are several cities which are only known by their coins, as there is no historical mention of them." - Alas, no reference(s) for this very intriguing tidbit of information.
