In the "mobile robots" section, a citation is needed: Mobile robots are also found in industry, military and security environments.[85] They also appear as consumer products, for entertainment or to perform certain tasks like vacuum cleaning. Mobile robots are the focus of a great deal of current research and almost every major university has one or more labs that focus on mobile robot research.[citation needed]

Yes, Chapter 3, "Motion in Global Coordinates", of which PP 65-69 is a short survey on the research activities related to the various types of mobile robots.

For the next paragraph: "Mobile robots are usually used in tightly controlled environments such as on assembly lines because they have difficulty responding to unexpected interference. Because of this most humans rarely encounter robots. However domestic robots for cleaning and maintenance are increasingly common in and around homes in developed countries. Robots can also be found in military applications.[citation needed]", this citation may be included: [2]

Please remove "In 2015, the Nao alderen robots were shown to have a capability for a degree of self-awareness. Researchers at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute AI and Reasoning Lab in New York conducted an experiment where a robot became aware of itself, and corrected its answer to a question once it had realised this.[121]"

This statement is misleading and based on a popular science article that is an irresponsible exaggeration of the research -- showing that a purpose-built reasoning algorithm can do inference when provided with additional information is very different from the popular understanding of "self-awareness" (see the original article that the CNN article is based on at http://kryten.mm.rpi.edu/SBringsjord_etal_self-con_robots_kg4_0601151615NY.pdf for a clearer explanation of the work, which focuses on a cognitively-inspired inference engine). From that paper: "[the first author of the paper] doesn’t believe that any of the artificial creatures featured in the present paper are actually self-conscious. He has explained repeatedly [e.g., see [14], [15]] that genuine phenomenal consciousness [16] is impossible for a mere machine to have, and true self-consciousness would require phenomenal consciousness." 130.64.35.18 (talk) 17:46, 13 April 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
