House of Elders[edit]

@Rpd2002:, your edits have been reverted as you have not provided any explanation for the removal of well-sourced content. Please provide an explanation for said removal of content. Do not make any further reverts until this discussion ends. Any further reverts will constitute an edit war. Per WP:BRD, after an edit is reverted, the status quo should remain while a discussion is started. Rockcodder (talk) 08:34, 21 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Vacant seats are added by assumptions[edit]

7 Nominated members seats are currently vacant. But some users are adding that in BJP by future assumptions, like@Syrriana:. Please some give suggestions for restriction of this vandalism @Venkat TL:@Dev Adhi: Mahesh Chhanga 78 (talk) 12:02, 19 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Mahesh Chhanga 78 I suggest reverting these edits as unsourced 2 times and if they do it again, report them for edit warring and unsourced edits. I have stopped watching RS related pages, because it is tough to determine what is current figure and what is future forecast, its all a mess due to some editors who dont understand that we have to wait till oath day, before we can add their names here. Venkat TL (talk) 12:14, 19 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Ku423winz1 @Syrriana In this edit Both of you are making claims without providing any reference or news site to verify your claims. If reported both will be blocked for disruptive editing. Discuss your source in the talk page, get consensus and only add content with source, IF there is no source yet, wait for the source to publish the new numbers before adding it here. @Dev Adhi @Mahesh Chhanga 78 Venkat TL (talk) 09:01, 20 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Mahesh Chhanga 78 ,@Venkat TL I have claimed with prove, I have given the source in citation. I don't claim, I only put the official numbers but other guys put projections or assumptions which should not be done, so I have to revert or edit it to create the right data. Ku423winz1 (talk) 09:07, 20 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@ Venkat TL before the 2022 Rajya Sabha elections the BJP was having 95 MPs but after the election they were having net loss of 3 MPs. So there current strength will be 92 instead of 91. Syrriana (talk) 09:04, 20 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
No, now BJP has 91 rajya sabha members after the election
Source:- https://www.abplive.com/news/india/rajya-sabha-election-result-2022-rajya-sabha-party-wise-strength-2143743 Ku423winz1 (talk) 09:17, 20 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Syrriana you need to provide 3 refs for your claim, (1)before the 2022 Rajya Sabha elections the BJP was having 95 MPs (2)they were having net loss of 3 MPs (3) BJP current strength will be 92. Without adding these 3 reference you cannot make such edits. Same applies for Ku423winz1. Venkat TL (talk) 09:20, 20 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I am giving you three references, just wait. Ku423winz1 (talk) 09:27, 20 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Ku423winz1 @Syrriana have the new members taken oath? if not then they are not MP yet. The old MPs are still continuing in their office. Wait till the day of oath. Dont jump the gun. Venkat TL (talk) 09:22, 20 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Taking oath is a meaningless fact, its just ceremonial. why will we have to wait till oath. Everyone who won will take oath, it is not possible to win the election and not to take oath. Ku423winz1 (talk) 09:26, 20 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Ku423winz1 @Syrriana Do you understand the difference between FUTURE MPs vs CURRENT MPs ? This article mentions the CURRENT MPs. You are adding FUTURE MPs as CURRENT MPs and this is wrong. They will become CURRENT MP only when their new term starts from the day of the oath. Venkat TL (talk) 09:28, 20 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Then you have to reduce 70 seats since about 70 members' term ended this year. Ku423winz1 (talk) 09:31, 20 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Look, @Syrriana, it's simple mathematics, if 12 seats are vacant and 124 seats are for opposition then the remaining 109 would be for government. Thus you have to reduce 1 seat from BJP, and I have given source too. Ku423winz1 (talk) 09:35, 20 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Ku423winz1 when is the exact Date, when their term ended? Please give source/reference for term end date. Venkat TL (talk) 09:37, 20 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Their is not any exact sources as all news sites which did not provided the reduced seat distribution as it is not important. Also the calculation is so much complicated so I suggest you to put the value 91 for BJP which is the real value. We don't wait to edit when chief ministers are not yet sworn in, then why would we wait until the swearing?? Ku423winz1 (talk) 09:42, 20 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Ku423winz1 In assembly election, The assembly is dissolved before the election, so the MLA term is ended. The new names are added after election result is declared because the term of last MLA is already over. Same need to be followed for RS. Difference is that RS is not dissolved, only the term of MP ends. If the term of last RS MP is not over and you cannot find a source for the term, then please dont make any change. Venkat TL (talk) 09:45, 20 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Ku423winz1@Syrriana @Mahesh Chhanga 78 The RS Site https://rajyasabha.nic.in/Members/Alphabetical has been updated on 20 June, with the list of members. Please check and update the Wikipedia article based on whatever the RS Site is saying. There should be no confusion. Venkat TL (talk) 09:52, 20 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The official sources are not updated, they are showing old versions. Ku423winz1 (talk) 10:04, 20 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Ku423winz1 When RS itself is saying that this is the list of members as on 20 June, then who are you to argue? Please only keep the list of current members as shown on RS Site. New members will be added on RS Site list when their terms start, not before. @Syrriana Venkat TL (talk) 10:08, 20 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I am tired 😭😭, do whatever you want. Ku423winz1 (talk) 10:13, 20 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Ku423winz1 and @Venkat TL the BJP will have 92 MPs as Dr.Manik Saha the Chief Minister of Tripura is still the Rajya Sabha MP and he has not resigned officially. So still he is an MP from Tripura. Syrriana (talk) 09:55, 20 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

How can BJP be 92 and NDA 110 while 12 seats are vacant and 124 for opposition. The total of the seats becomes 246, so you have to reduce 1 from BJP. And Manik Saha is in the 91 as the previous person resigned and election was not held because tripura has one seat and BJP has the majority. Ku423winz1 (talk) 10:02, 20 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Venkat TL and @Ku423winz1 please show any one site where The CM of Tripura has resigned from his Rajya Sabha Seat. Syrriana (talk) 10:00, 20 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Syrriana please see this link List of Sitting Members of Rajya Sabha (Term Wise) Venkat TL (talk) 10:17, 20 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Ku423winz1 the Maths is simple 7 seats are nominated seats which are vacant while 4 seats are vacant of J&K this will add up to 11. So if remove the one seat of Tripura then the BJP strength will be 92. Syrriana (talk) 10:25, 20 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Syrriana @Ku423winz1 Both of you are wrong. RS official site is saying 95 so Wikipedia article should say 95. Wait for the RS Site to update. Dont jump the gun and remove the name of existing MP before their term ends on 4 July. Venkat TL (talk) 10:28, 20 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Venkat TL agree with you Syrriana (talk) 10:32, 20 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Official List of RS members as on 20 June 2022[edit]

In the second link you can see the term of the MP, with the exact date for the end of term. Dont remove the MP name before his term ends. You should make edits in WP:DRAFT or WP:SANDBOX but not on the article. Dont confuse Future MP with Current MP. Dont remove the outgoing MPs name before his term ends. Venkat TL (talk) 10:16, 20 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Total members of the Rajya Sabha 250 not 245[edit]

Composition of the rajya sabha: 250 - Total; 238 - Elected by the elected members of the Legislative Assembly of each state; 12 - Nominated by the President of India; Please clarify Amansoo (talk) 11:49, 1 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Amansoo:: Maximum strength is 250 (238 elected + 12 nominated). Current strength is 245 (233 elected + 12 nominated). SharadSHRD7 (talk) 08:59, 17 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Unaligned Parties[edit]

Should members of unaligned parties be considered a part of the opposition?

Also the number of seats, even if you consider unaligned parties as being in the opposition, does not mathematically make sense, use a calculator if the person counting doesn't know how numbers work.

(I disagree with the idea of unaligned parties being considered parties in opposition to the Government, they do not support either side but they support the government on a case by case basis.) MonsieurPranshu (talk) 06:18, 7 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
