Merge with Virtual appliance?[edit]

Shouldn't this page be merged with Virtual appliance? --Z Doc (talk) 10:43, 11 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Untitled[edit]

Updated ZIP to TAR (specified by the OVF 1.1.0 spec, page 12, line 370+).

Windows Virtual PC?[edit]

Does Windows Virtual PC handle OVA files? It is absent from the list. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.70.67.226 (talk) 17:28, 16 June 2011 (UTC) Because it doesn't. Duh. 68.70.67.226 (talk) 18:07, 16 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Disk formats[edit]

"various formats are supported"

I couldn't find anything in the spec that would enforce interoperability on the disk image level.

5.2 Virtual Disk Formats

OVF does not require any specific disk format to be used, but to comply with this specification the disk format shall be given by a URI which identifies an unencumbered specification on how to interpret the

disk format.

This is why interoperability via OVF is only partially answered. OVF only describes attributes of that image and does not specify an open means to read that image. AndyEdmonds (talk) 15:45, 23 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
