Although I agree with the author that North Center is one of the most desirable areas of Chicago, the article has a promotional "gee whiz" quality that I do not really find appropriate in Wikipedia. Anyone else have this reaction? 162.83.216.10 (talk) 06:24, 8 December 2008 (UTC)Larry Siegel[reply]

Fixed (to the best of my recollection). 71.194.38.54 (talk) 09:38, 3 November 2009 (UTC)Larry Siegel[reply]

Northcenter is one word. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.227.93.126 (talk) 15:48, 28 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No, it's not. You can call a neighborhood anything you want, so I left the discussion of the immediate Irving Park-Damen-Lincoln area (referred to in the article as "Northcenter"; I am not sure of local practice) but if you are referring to the Chicago Community Area of North Center, which is the topic of the article, the nomenclature is decided by the City of Chicago Department of Planning and Development, following guidelines established by the University of Chicago about 90 years ago. 71.194.38.54 (talk) 09:35, 3 November 2009 (UTC)Larry Siegel, Department of Geography (graduated 1971), University of Chicago[reply]

Neighborhood names[edit]

Kudos to User:Bry456 for working to get the neighborhood names matched with what's currently in official use by the city government. I'm going to restore some of the previous names, as the city shouldn't be taken as the sole source for these names and some of them are still in popular use. I'm starting with St. Ben's, which is still currently in use, as evidenced by this message board and this article. Ibadibam (talk) 09:57, 14 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
