Notability[edit]

Okay, but how does it pass WP:ORG? -FisherQueen (Talk) 18:55, 13 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The golf club is notable as it is one of the oldest courses in Scotland and was originally founded to serve the fishing community which is now defunct. It was also frequented by two Siamese Crown Princes in 1890 who learned to play golf there. It offers a unique service in the north east of Scotland to beginner and high handicap golfers.

Text Released[edit]

The text of the article is taken almost word for word from www.scottishgolfcourses.com - which has a copyright notice. It matches that site far more closely than Newburgh Golf Club. andy 19:05, 13 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, but you will find that the text on scottishgolfcourses.com was provided to them by Newburgh On Ythan golf club and if anyone owns that copyright it is Newburgh Golf Club. If you want, I will get the text removed from scottishgolfcourses.com along with the picture of the course which they are using and that will leave it clear as to who owns the right to use the Newburgh On Ythan Golf Club information.

I'm sorry, but it doesn't matter who owns the copyright; unless proper procedure is followed to grant the Wikimedia Foundation the right to publish the text, it cannot be used. For more information, please see Wikipedia:Copyrights. Shell babelfish 03:10, 14 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
There is currently a ticket in the OTRS system from a senior person in Newburgh On Ythan Golf Club (ticket 2007031410019758), which gives permission to use text from the club's website (under GFDL). On the other hand, I'm not certain of the copyright status of the text on the scottishgolfcourses site, but will respond to the emailer of the permission requeting clarification. What I feel would be best would be to get rid of the copyvio version 9for now, at least) and make a version using the free text from the club's site, until we can get clarification. Blacklisted Links Found on the Main Page[edit]

Cyberbot II has detected that page contains external links that have either been globally or locally blacklisted. Links tend to be blacklisted because they have a history of being spammed, or are highly innappropriate for Wikipedia. This, however, doesn't necessarily mean it's spam, or not a good link. If the link is a good link, you may wish to request whitelisting by going to the request page for whitelisting. If you feel the link being caught by the blacklist is a false positive, or no longer needed on the blacklist, you may request the regex be removed or altered at the blacklist request page. If the link is blacklisted globally and you feel the above applies you may request to whitelist it using the before mentioned request page, or request it's removal, or alteration, at the request page on meta. When requesting whitelisting, be sure to supply the link to be whitelisted and wrap the link in nowiki tags. The whitelisting process can take its time so once a request has been filled out, you may set the invisible parameter on the tag to true. Please be aware that the bot will replace removed tags, and will remove misplaced tags regularly.

Below is a list of links that were found on the main page:
