DIII?[edit]

Is the NPSL really recognized as a Division Three? That makes no sense to me...the USL Second Division, fully professional, is the third division of the US. The NPSL bears much more resemblance to the PDL, which is fourth level.

I also want to know the answer to this. Over the year's I've seen it claimed that both the NPSL and PCSL are "FIFA and USSF" recognized Div III/IV leagues, but I can't find any reference's (outside of their own websites) to confirm that. I usually see them as de-facto Div IV. I have noticed that the NPSL teams enter the Open Cup as if the East & West Divisions were the equivilent of a "state" association of the USASA which is supposed to be the rough equivalent of a Div V. Can anyone provide a source (other than the NPSL & PCSL websites) showing if they are indeed officially recognized by any one at some official level? Likewise is the PDL officially the US's Div IV (de-jure?) or is that only de-facto as well. Thank you, Gecko G (talk) 09:48, 21 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Actually the USL PDL and the NPSL are not D3 or D4 leagues. They're not sanctioned directly by the USSF and as such do not have any "level" on the soccer pyramid. USL PDL and NPSL are sanctioned by the USASA which is in turn recognized by the USSF. But the USASA does not have a "level" on the pyramid. The divisional terms only apply in practice to the 3 (4 with the new NASL if it gets sanctioned) pro leagues. Gateman1997 (talk) 03:45, 29 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Npsllogo.jpg[edit]

Image:Npsllogo.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

The map image[edit]

Hey, I appreciate the updated map image but I was wondering if it may be more apt to use a United States focused map. NPSL will probably never have a team in Mexico and has not yet ever had a team in Canada (or Greenland, for that matter). The current image is very similar to the PDL map, but PDL has teams in Canada. I would try to make a more fitting map, but I'm terrible at all those programs. I would suggest however (hope i'm not sounding whiney or anything) an image similar to the map on the US Soccer Pyramid page, which focuses on the United States and which would have states colored red.

Minnesota teams in club listing table[edit]

I stumbled across this page and noticed that the map includes pins for two Twin Cities-based teams. Through context, it seems that they represent the TwinStars and Minnesota United's development squad. These teams, however, are not listed in the table of current teams. Just wondering if there's a reason for that or if it's an accidental omission. Fargocyclone (talk) 07:13, 2 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Fully Protected Page[edit]

This page is continually being updated with incorrect and/or out-of-date information. The information on the page is in some cases years out of date.

This page needs to be fully protected. Soccermedia (talk) 19:55, 27 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

You need to find actual impartial third-party sources, not just promotional blurbs taken fron the NPSL's own website. --Orange Mike | Talk 22:53, 27 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Soccermedia seems to have a conflict of interest with this article and Soccermedia's inability to recognize MOS:CAPS and other guidelines or manuals of style are problematic. That the article contains out-of-date information is likely true, but removing it is not the correct approach. Changing the tense and updating with reliable, secondary sources is the correct solution. Walter Görlitz (talk) 18:09, 28 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Founder's Cup[edit]

I see that all the teams who were announced in the up-coming Founder's Cup were pulled from their respective divisions. Given that we have little/no information regarding the teams' plans before the Founder's Cup and that the Founder's Cup starts after the end of the usual NPSL season, it is not crazy to assume that those teams might compete in both. Or that they will assign "B" squads to the NPSL season and a pro squad to the Founder's Cup. Pirmas697 (talk) 12:14, 16 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Map Pinpoints[edit]

The map on the article is a bit of a hot mess. The description of the pin colors is incomplete, teams have pinpoints that are not in the league, and there are several teams missing. Kevinw33 (talk) 17:14, 20 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
