Requested move 9 May 2023[edit]

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.
The result of the move request was: no consensus. While the proposal attracted some early support, the argument in favor of the move essentially boiled down to the perceived awkwardness of the current title, an argument which proved to be contested. It was further shown that neither title would be strongly preferable to the other under WP:CONSISTENT. Finally, WP:PLACEDAB was cited in support of the move, but – while that guideline certainly permits the "Mykines (village)" format – it does not make a clear case as to why that format would be preferable to the current one.
In short, this was a discussion where both sides had comparable numbers and neither had a substantially stronger argument than the other. This leads me to find that no consensus emerged on whether to move the article. (closed by non-admin page mover) ModernDayTrilobite (talkcontribs) 14:49, 31 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Mykines, MykinesMykines (village) – Primarily to prevent having an awkward disambiguator. SHB2000 (talk) 11:18, 9 May 2023 (UTC) — Relisting. Skarmory (talk • contribs) 23:03, 16 May 2023 (UTC) — Relisting. CLYDE TALK TO ME/STUFF DONE (please mention me on reply) 23:15, 23 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Preferably Mykines (Faroese village) as Mykines (Danish village) implies that this is in Denmark proper (which is not the case). --SHB2000 (talk) 21:27, 11 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Mykines (village), Faroe Islands would be the standard form. I support this, as I had failed to realise that there is a Greek village of the same name. -- Necrothesp (talk) 14:22, 12 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes like Windermere, Cumbria (town) though that suggests putting the location first than generic class, I'd argue that to would be better at Windermere (Cumbrian town). Crouch, Swale (talk) 16:25, 12 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Relisting comment: What should the disambiguator be? Skarmory (talk • contribs) 23:03, 16 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Mykines, Faroe Islands, an island in the Faroe Islands
Mykines, Mykines, a village on that island
Mykines, Greece, a village in Argolis, Greece near ancient Mycenae In ictu oculi (talk) 07:32, 17 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
