Untitled[edit]

Is there anything else that should be included regarding this article? More information should be added for Monterrey's bus system as well, does anybody have this information?

  • My answer is someone should give a map that reveals the lines' colors, as well as checking to see if the lines can have their own articles that can be put into dis-ambiguation pages based on their colors (e.g. Green Line if colored green on maps.) Blacklisted Links Found on the Main Page[edit]

Is the Metrorrey a light rail system.[edit]

In my personal opinion (and in reference to the Spanish version of this page), the Metrorrey is actually a light rail system, since it's trainsets are too small to be considered rapid transit, and these are almost the same design and appearance for many of Mexico's light rail trains, as well as being coupled to extend the trainset, not to mention many light rail systems around the world are referred to as rapid transit by their governments. Although the last statement is definitely true, in this specific case reliable sources like UITP ([1]) and R. Schwandl's "Urban Rail" ([2]) don't share your personal opinion about Monterrey, including it among the "metro cities"; what other Wikipedias say isn't really weighty here, per WP:CIRCULAR.
As for the other edit I reverted as well, there's a distinct difference between two permanently (or semi-permanently) coupled cars, also known as twin unit or married pair, and a two-section articulated vehicle, with the latter usually counted as "one car" when joined in a longer trainset - i.e. three married pairs form a six-car train, whilst three two-section articulated vehicles form a three-car train. Revisiting[edit]

While I agree that Metrorrey isn't "rapid tranist"/metro, I'd like to see someone produce some actual reliable sourcing that characterizes the system as either "light metro" or "medium-capacity rail" (and, note: Metrorrey is not included the Medium-capacity rail system article) – for reference, UITP overhauled their website some time ago (and basically removed all useful content from the website), and the "Urban Rail" website is in no way definitive on this question... So does anyone actually call it "light metro" as opposed to "light rail"?... I would say if sourcing cannot be produced on this, the article should be returned to categorizing the system as "light rail", as for example the LRTA did [3]. --IJBall (contribs • talk) 23:54, 6 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Here's an archive of the UITP article linked above showing Metrorrey as a "metro". In their World metros report they explain their definition of metro:

Metros are high capacity urban rail systems, running on an exclusive right-of-way. Metro lines included in the above statistics run with trains composed of a minimum of two cars and with a total capacity of at least 100 passengers per train. Suburban railways are not included and are available in a separate dataset. Systems that are based on light rail vehicles, monorail or magnetic levitation technology are included if they meet all other criteria above. Suspended systems are not included.

Metrorrey does meet this criteria. As for the term "light metro" specifically, is Metro Report International a reliable source? I'm not very familiar with this industry. Mike.BRZ (talk) 04:04, 30 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
