1. Well-written:
1a. the prose is clear, concise, and understandable to an appropriately broad audience; spelling and grammar are correct. elegantly written, no sign of plagiarism
1b. it complies with the Manual of Style guidelines for lead sections, layout, words to watch, fiction, and list incorporation. lead: is a little short, should extend to reflect article contents done; layout: ok; weasel: no problem; fiction: n/a; lists: n/a
2. Verifiable with no original research:
2a. it contains a list of all references (sources of information), presented in accordance with the layout style guideline. properly sourced
2b. reliable sources are cited inline. All content that could reasonably be challenged, except for plot summaries and that which summarizes cited content elsewhere in the article, must be cited no later than the end of the paragraph (or line if the content is not in prose). is fully cited
2c. it contains no original research. no sign of it
3. Broad in its coverage:
3a. it addresses the main aspects of the topic. gives a detailed and seemingly balanced picture of a life and career
3b. it stays focused on the topic without going into unnecessary detail (see summary style). focused and well written throughout
4. Neutral: it represents viewpoints fairly and without editorial bias, giving due weight to each. no issue
5. Stable: it does not change significantly from day to day because of an ongoing edit war or content dispute. no trouble here
6. Illustrated, if possible, by media such as images, video, or audio:
6a. media are tagged with their copyright statuses, and valid non-free use rationales are provided for non-free content. all images tagged on Commons
6b. media are relevant to the topic, and have suitable captions. good images
7. Overall assessment. What a fascinating article, great stuff, I really enjoyed it. Elegantly written, and a remarkable woman.

One small thing - the template at the end on Horticulture and Gardening: if it's going to be there, then it should really contain a section on Landscape gardening with Marian Coffin and other landscape architects in there... not a showstopper for GA, however. Cruger?[edit]

I am puzzled by this part of her name. Is it's a part of her first name, why is she called just Marian in the Early life section? If it's a middle name, why is it in the article title? If it's part of her last name, why is she called just Coffin throughout the article? (And where does that part of her surname come from?) I notice that she is more often called Marian Coffin (c. 100 hits) than Marian Cruger Coffin (c. 20 hits), and that the only book in the Bibliography section that names her in the title uses the name Marian Coffin. Pinging Prioryman, though he seems to have taken a break. Surtsicna (talk) 14:26, 5 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Photographs[edit]

I'd like to bring to attention a photograph that might be in public domain. It can be found here and here. Unfortunately, I cannot ascertain the copyright status. Surtsicna (talk) 16:19, 5 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
