Can anyone tell me where does the name Maben come from? The name of our village (and school) in Wales (UK) comes from the Celtic god Mabon but there many variations including Mabyn and Maben. Ysgol Rhiwabon (talk) 15:46, 16 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I was told that it was named after someone with the last name "Mayben" and the spelling was altered over time. The town's chief claim to fame is that aviator Charles Lindbergh made an emergency landing in a field near the town back in the 1920's. This event is commemorated by a historical plaque along the roadside and is mentioned in one of the books written by his wife Anne Morrow Lindbergh.

The plaque says, "On May 18, 1923, Charles Lindbergh landed his “Jenny” northeast of here and damaged the propeller. He spent several days selling excursion rides at five dollars each to defray his expenses."
