Notability[edit]

Not to be a smartass, but are the two points about Halo or IBM particularly notable? I'm sure that there is a niche audience for that, but how many other niche "Black Mondays" are there? I'm sure if we dip into other fields other than computing, we can find similar Black Mondays that wouldn't go into an encyclopedia.

Since so many unfortunate events occurred on a Monday... Unfortunate events happen all the time. Unless there's a citeable statistic that shows they're more frequent on Mondays, I'd say take this out as OR. --Noclevername (talk) 15:26, 24 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

When I read that, I thought it was saying "Since we can expect about one in seven bad events to happen on a Monday..." Perhaps you should just reword it for clarification. I doubt that it was intended to mean "Since more than an expected amount of bad things happen on Monday..." WAS 4.250 (talk) 18:31, 24 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

6 October 2008[edit]

Why is 6 October 2008 not considered a Black Monday? The FTSE 100 recorded its biggest ever points fall in a day. Stock markets fell all over the world. Is it because this page editor is Dow Jones-centric?

We've only had 4 black Mondays this year, why not another? <grin> If you look at a percentage of declines on a given day for world-wide broad market indicators, 10/6 would probably be the worst this year. I do concur with the thought that more than 2 "black Mondays" in a given year is probably a bit excessive. Plhofmei (talk) 20:21, 7 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not really sure I follow the logic there. A Black Monday should be included if it meets the defintion of a Black Monday. This is regardless of when or how it occurred.
