Tone of film[edit]

  • Looking forward to this! Could there be a way, even though it's only in pre-production, to determine whether the movie will be satirical in nature, or semi-serious like the kids's show was? Thanks. 209.55.81.128 (talk) 18:42, 26 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well it IS Will Ferrel...it's pretty safe to say it'll be more if not completely satirical in nature. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 166.214.120.40 (talk) 22:43, 14 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Inaccuracy[edit]

I just watched this film and there are gross inaccuracies regarding cha-ka. Holly states that Cha-ka and his brethren "have a posture like an Australopithecine" which is totally false. The genus Australopithecus was habitually bipedal and stood up straight while walking, like modern humans, but Cha-ka's locomotion and posture is the same as a chimpanzee's. This suggests that he is an ancestor of the Pan lineage after the split between hominins and the rest of the hominines about 5-7 million years ago (the findings of which in the fossil record are extremely sparse). However, given the amount of body hair and facial structure, Cha-ka physically looks like what an Australopithecine probably would've looked like, although with knees bent and hobbling around with facultative bipedalism and sometimes dragging knuckles on the ground, it is clearly chimpanzee posture/locomotion, not Australopithecine. Also the fact that Cha-ka has a language is absurd, as Broca's area was completely undeveloped until the proliferation of Homo erectus and its contemporary taxa, making speech impossible for Australopithecines and even early Homo, and even improbable for Homo erectus or Homo heidelbergensis, probably really only developing properly in Homo neandertalensis and archaic Homo sapiens, long after Australopithecus died out.

You're kidding, right? Repeat after me: "It's" "a" "movie" There now, feel better? Cripes.

Dr Steel[edit]

Anyone know if Dr. Steel's song "Land of The Lost" will be used in this movie? I believe you can listen to the song at youtube if you search for "Dr Steel Land of The Lost" The song is inspired by the tv show and would be great for a theme song for the movie. I heard a rumour that they were going to use it, hope so. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 123.2.70.169 (talk) 10:13, 4 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Status Of Filming?[edit]

Danny McBride Was On The Opie & Anthony Show Today (8/6/2008) And Said That He Wrapped Up Filming Land Of The Lost With Will Ferrell...can anyone confirm this? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.202.145.2 (talk) 12:55, 6 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm guessing it's pretty much done by nowRevelationDirect (talk) 22:32, 5 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Connections to other films[edit]

In the movie Jay and Silent Bob Strikes Back, Will Ferrell played a character named "Federal Wildlife Marshal Willenholly", a name-drop reference to the main characters from the Land of the Lost (Marshall, Will, and Holly - as listed in the theme song). Without firing up a trivia section, anybody have a good way of including this fun little fact? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 206.209.220.20 (talk) 06:09, 27 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Not really, as in order for it to be included, it has to be attributed to a verifiable reliable source, otherwise, it is original research, which is not allowed.— dαlus Contribs 06:24, 27 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The challenge here is finding a place to put that tid bit without inserting one of those nasty trivia sections (which I would delete if no one else got to it first). It fits perfectly in the article for the original series though so I placed the info here. While I respectfully disagree with Daedalus969's contention that "getting" the punch line to a joke constitutes original research, I sourced it anyway to reach consensus.RevelationDirect (talk) 02:46, 1 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Great, now we have a trivia section. I flagged it and plan to delete tomorrow if still there unless others have different suggestions.RevelationDirect (talk) 22:32, 5 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks to User:Fenrir-of-the-Shadows for taking care of it.RevelationDirect (talk) 02:43, 7 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Reception[edit]

This section currently makes the inaccurate claims that the film received mixed or moderate reviews. I have yet to see those. The only positive one I saw from a non-fan site was on Slate.com, and it acknowledged that it was bucking the trend by not hating the movie. Is there any accepted metric or industry standard to show what the typical review says?RevelationDirect (talk) 02:43, 7 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Most film articles use rottentomatoes and metacritic.VatoFirme (talk) 03:55, 7 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Plot summary[edit]

The plot summary is totally confusing for somebody who has no clue what this is all about - it assumes lots of prior knowledge. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 125.236.217.145 (talk) 00:16, 8 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

My rewrite of a month or so ago should've taken care of this issue. YLee (talk) 18:36, 24 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

R-rating?[edit]

the imdb page mentions it having an original R-rating and that it was cut to pg-13. is there a source on this anywhere? there are some deleted scenes on the dvd, but to my knowledge the original r-rated cut does not exist anywhere? help? --Compn (talk) 21:56, 16 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Blacklisted Links Found on the Main Page[edit]

Cyberbot II has detected that page contains external links that have either been globally or locally blacklisted. Links tend to be blacklisted because they have a history of being spammed, or are highly innappropriate for Wikipedia. This, however, doesn't necessarily mean it's spam, or not a good link. If the link is a good link, you may wish to request whitelisting by going to the request page for whitelisting. If you feel the link being caught by the blacklist is a false positive, or no longer needed on the blacklist, you may request the regex be removed or altered at the blacklist request page. If the link is blacklisted globally and you feel the above applies you may request to whitelist it using the before mentioned request page, or request it's removal, or alteration, at the request page on meta. When requesting whitelisting, be sure to supply the link to be whitelisted and wrap the link in nowiki tags. The whitelisting process can take its time so once a request has been filled out, you may set the invisible parameter on the tag to true. Please be aware that the bot will replace removed tags, and will remove misplaced tags regularly.
