Evidence of trolling[edit]

My apologies, in response to the previous thread, it actually appears that the “They look dire” comment about her mother’s roast potatoes directly led to her leaving Twitter in late September 2022, not subsequently. Again, my comment still stands, The Pink News article’s reason for her leaving Twitter in September 2022 were those given by Monroe herself, but it actually appears to be the potato criticism which was the catalyst. 2A00:23C7:3F02:A201:504A:FF66:BBEB:5948 (talk) 00:31, 31 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The content is adequately referenced. This has nothing to do with roast potatoes and it is ludicrous to claim otherwise. I don't think that any of the three references support it either way so I'll take the Parachute Regiment bit out. If you know of a reliable source we can use to reference the Royal Regiment of Artillery then that can be added in later. Mr Hadjicostas appears to have served in 29 (Corunna) Field Battery Royal Artillery, as a gunner on G-sub (a 'sub' is a gun in the Royal Artillery, and 29 Battery was armed with the 105mm L118 light gun) at the time of the Falklands War, when 29 Battery was detailed to support 2nd Battalion The Parachute Regiment ('2 Para', the victors of the Battle of Goose Green). https://www.ebooks2go.com/img/samplefiles/9781473881235_Sample.pdf In photographs he does appear to be wearing the South Atlantic Medal next to his MBE. https://www.facebook.com/1022950097740283/photos/a.1047946015240691/2329470780421535/?type=3&is_lookaside=1 The battery seems to have been parachute-trained at the time (there is such a thing as parachute artillery, the men and the guns being dropped out of aircraft) and members would presumably be entitled to the red beret, though this is not the same as belonging to the Parachute Regiment. https://www.paradata.org.uk/unit/29-corunna-field-battery-4-field-regiment-ra Khamba Tendal (talk) 19:42, 13 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Monroe uses language in a very particular, gestural, somewhat manipulative, reversible-raincoat way, and then often goes, 'Show me where I said that.' In the quote you cite, she is using the word 'paratrooper' to create a certain impression (which you can take as manly-heroic and good, or patriarchal-imperialist and bad), on a deniable basis, because her father was clearly jump-qualified, but he was quite certainly a Gunner and not a Para. It is to say the least unlikely that Monroe does not know this, since she has had herself photographed sitting on the trails of one of the Association's two precious Second World War 25-pounder guns at a street party and has published the photo on social media.

where it says "the Independent described this...", does "this" refer to Vine's article or Monroe's article? Further, did Monroe's counter-remarks refer to Vine's column or the Independent'column?
