Palme d'Or[edit]

Should we mention the award given away at the Cannes Film Festival? I'm not too familiar with the film industry but the Palme d'Or seems to have a similar level of prestige to the Academy Awards or Golden Globes Flameoguy (talk) 15:14, 7 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Many would argue the Palme d'Or is the most prestigious award. Even on it's page it's mentioned that it's one of the most prestigious awards in film - yet it doesn't link to this page nor is it on this page. It's very odd. The Golden Globes/BAFTA are definitely less deserving of a spot than the Palme. 2600:1700:2054:190:4C0:667D:FE0E:1AEC (talk) 01:01, 27 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I should add, looking at this page, they seem to specifically want to distinguish "Film award" from anything given at a film festival (like Cannes - where the Palm is given), and note differences in things like who votes for the award (jury vs members etc). However this doesn't make sense to the literal meaning of a film award, and things like the Palme are certainly awards. I'm not sure how it being voted on by a jury makes it not an award. Perhaps this page is pushed by Academy lobbyists? Idk. 2600:1700:2054:190:4C0:667D:FE0E:1AEC (talk) 01:06, 27 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
