What about Babatunde Olatunji and his Drums of Passion records? There was one of these that was out in the 1960s, and a friend's dad had it and it was a lot of fun to listen to when you were eight or nine years old. -- Smerdis of Tlön 22:03, 5 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Two things the article failed to mention: the considerable Latin influence on exotica (Martin Denny himself in "Incredibly Strange Music" mentioned that his sound was far more Latin influenced, especially in the rhythms, than Polynesian influenced) and the relation between the rise of exotica and the introduction of stereophonic sound.
