Window contamination[edit]

On April 2014 the media went nuts reporting "sea plankton" growing on the windows of the Russian module of the ISS; the only reliable report is this paper submitted on April 2014, describing the growth of films on some of the the windows of the EXPOSE-R experiment mounted on the exterior of the Zvezda module: [1]. Post-flight investigations revealed the discolouration to be caused by a homogenous film of cross-linked organic polymers at the inside of the windows. I will wait for more results (EXPOSE-R) to be published and figure out the context and implications. Cheers, BatteryIncluded (talk) 04:23, 2 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
