origin of name of chicken[edit]

I'm a bit confused by the first sentence. Is the name of the chicken originally Chinese, or is it the word "Cochin", which at the time was a geographic term commonly used in English? --Richardson mcphillips (talk) 23:22, 12 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
