National Trust pilot[edit]

Hello @KJP1, @Rodw, @DBaK, @Martinevans123, @PamD, Hope you're all OK. One of the potential pages suggested by the National Trust is one for their campaign BlossomWatch, which I've started here as a draft, and I wondered if you would share your opinions on it, before/if I put it through Articles for Creation? The person managing this project for the National Trust suggested I share it with you, as they really appreciated all your comments a couple of weeks ago. I based the page on other campaigns, such as Give Them 20, Yesterday/Today/Tomorrow and Hug A Brit. I think the draft would benefit with some references to negative responses to the campaign (although I am yet to find any to include). Thanks very much for offering to be help with this pilot. It is very much appreciated. I'll be away til Monday, so might not respond til then. All the best Lajmmoore (talk) 15:11, 19 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

For criticism you might want to look at Blooming farce! National Trust is accused of hypocrisy for using fake PLASTIC trees to celebrate blossom season... after preaching that Britain 'doesn't need more plastic pollution' but it is Daily Mail so I wouldn't cite it - but Hortweek has it as well not (not sure how reliable that source is considered).— Rod talk 15:30, 19 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I think it is looking good. I’ve done a light copy edit. Interestingly, when I put in #BlossomWatch, which I assume is the full title, the page decided to insert number breaks. I have got round this by using <nowiki>. All the best with it. KJP1 (talk) 06:40, 24 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks very much @KJP1 - and thanks for the tip! I'd been puzzling on that too. Lajmmoore (talk) 12:27, 25 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks very much Rod - I continued searching around, and found this link, buts its just a mirror page to the Daily Mail, so couldn't be used either. I couldn't get behind Hortweek's paywall, so am hesitant to use that source since I can only see the headline. Lajmmoore (talk) 12:24, 25 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Rodw forgot to tag you, sorry! Lajmmoore (talk) 12:27, 25 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • @Lajmmoore: New enough, long, enough, well referenced, and neutral. QPQ is done. I have slight concerns about both hooks: ALT0 is an WP:EASTEREGG link and although it's interesting doesn't seem to directly relate to #BlossomWatch. I much prefer ALT1, but the two references provided are both from March and are in future tense. Are there any sources available that say these trees were actually planted? Or is the planting planned to occur in the northern hemisphere autumn later this year, as per the quote above? 97198 (talk) 10:42, 3 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Hello 97198 thanks very much for the review - I'd not come across the EasterEgg guidance before, so I'll bear that in mind in the future. Thanks also for the attention you paid to the timing - I've added new sources that confirm that the Newcastle garden has been planted, and the Birmingham ones did "pop-up", but the bus route is meant to come this Autumn. Would a tweaked version of ALT1 work?
ALT1a: ... that as part of its #BlossomWatch campaign, the National Trust plans to plant trees along a circular bus route in Birmingham? Source: "In the autumn, the conservation charity will start a blossom legacy planting programme when the trees from the installations, along with more than 500 ornamental blossom and fruit trees, will be planted in and with local communities to recreate a symbolic ‘ring of blossom’ around the city, following Birmingham’s 27-mile, iconic number 11 bus route." https://www.birminghamworld.uk/news/the-national-trust-pop-up-blossom-gardens-celebrating-birminghams-botanical-history-3624382 Lajmmoore (talk) 21:35, 3 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
