Plural of Aureus[edit]

I was looking through the article and noticed that the plural of Aureus was given as "aurei". I thought that this word used "aurea" as the plural. Could one of the Latin scholars in the group comment on the correct pluralization? Thanks! Bdevoe (talk) 18:10, 2 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I would say it should be "aurea", but my Latin is rudimentary. Gaia Octavia Agrippa Talk | Sign 22:36, 8 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not a student of Latin, but Wiktionary says it's first declension masculine with plural aureī. The neuter is aureum with plural aurea, which is probably what you guys were thinking of. SamuelRiv (talk) 14:45, 14 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

2020 value of J. Caesar aureus[edit]

For the 8.18 grams of gold we quote, the gold value would be about $473, at $59.12 per gram. The actual coin, of course, would be worth considerably more.... --Pete Tillman (talk) 18:40, 5 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
