I need help with protection from the Wikipedia Copyright police. My photo of Ghez was deleted even though I posted that I had an email with her permission to use it. The public domain graphic of the star pattern at the Galactic Center was also deleted by them. Rather than them using the meat axe approach, they should make it a bit easier to upload and use photos and graphics. I've removed the fact she was the fourth woman to receive the award. This brings it in line with Donna Strickland who it doesnt list that she was the third to win. we also dont list which men were seccond third e.t.c on their pages so it makes the pages more consitent. Being only the fourth woman in over a century's worth of prizes is noteworthy, and the news has treated it as such [1][2][3]. And the article on Donna Stricklanddoes mention the fact that she was third, further down. It was added, but I have removed it again. The image does not contain evidence of permission that it is released by the copyright holder (not you, not the subject of the photograph, but the photographer) to the Wikimedia Foundation under an acceptable free license. The permission is basically hearsay: Andrea Ghez allowed the uploader to use it on Wikipedia, and "for use on Wikipedia" permissions are unacceptable because the image is considered non-free. ~Anachronist (talk) 18:04, 12 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
