It is erroneous to identify Alpenflage (or Swiss Leibermuster) as "TAZ 83". There is no logics in dating 1983 a camouflage pattern that, as you correctly state, "was issued from 1957 to 1993". In reality, the uniform in Alpenflage pattern had two main versions. The first one wad Kampfanzug 1957 (Kafaz 57), with several minor variations up to 1983 (for instance, Kafaz 70), but always consisting in a two-piece overgarment --multipocket parka and integral-braces cargo trousers, plus combat pack. The second one was TAZ 83, consisting in a usual two-piece uniform --combat jacket and cargo trousers, plus field cap. Beginning in 1955 there were also a lot of equipment items made up in Alpenflage pattern --shelter half, helmet covers, etc. Some sources you could look at are Camopedia, Kamouflage.net, Four bees blog and, over all, The Swiss Rifles message board. There is also a pretty good summary in the Catalan versions of this same article. Joan Rocaguinard (talk)
