It looks like 12th Illinois Infantry Regiment (3 Year) and 12th Illinois Infantry Regiment are the same unit, separated by enlistment period, with the "3 month" article at the base name, even though the 3 year period is undoubtedly the primary topic if we are to have multiple articles. There are no hatnotes or links between them so the situation is untenable. Many analogous Illinois regiments already include the 3 month and 3 year period in one article (e.g. the 11th and 9th) or have been proposed for merging (e.g. the 7th, 8th, 10th). Having multiple, improperly disambiguated articles for different time periods of the same entity is confusing, and should be merged together. Mdewman6 (talk) 02:03, 25 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
