Founded in?[edit]

Hi, the FC Lok Leipzig was founded inm 1966, the VfB was founded in 1893!

It's common practice in German football for teams to trace their lineages back through various mergers, the chaos at the end of two world wars, the division of the country, and the manipulative/politicized character of football (and sport in general) in East Germany back to the earliest club in the chain. If you look at the team's own webpage you can see they lay claim to VfB in 1893. And they went through financial failure and re-organization in 2004, as well. So does that mean 1966 gets tossed as well? Pretty much all the clubs in the country do this sort or thing - otherwise you wouldn't have any side older than 1945! I think to do otherwise you'd be flushing a lot of history and heritage. Wiggy! 22:47, 14 October 2006 (UTC) (sign your posts)[reply]
