This is the user talk page for me, K6ka, where you can leave messages for me.

Here is a list of frequently asked questions I get, and their answers.

Q: I am not logged in to Wikipedia, and I got a message from you saying that I vandalized an article that I didn't edit. What's going on?
A: No need to panic! Wikipedia uses your IP address to identify you when you are not logged in. IP addresses may be shared between multiple users, or be reassigned to different users periodically. For example, if you are at school or a coffee shop, the IP address you are using is shared by everyone using the Internet there.
The message you received was intended for someone who had previously used the IP address you are currently using. If you did not vandalize Wikipedia, you can safely ignore the message. If you get these kinds of messages frequently, you may want to consider creating an account and logging in to it. That way, any messages you get will actually be intended for you, rather than someone else who used your IP address.
Q: I am not logged into Wikipedia, and I can't edit because you have blocked me. What do I do?
A: See the above: you are probably on a shared IP address, and someone before you was editing Wikipedia inappropriately. Shared IP addresses are usually blocked from editing for long periods of time to prevent abuse. The good news is that you can usually still edit if you log in. If you don't have an account, and cannot create one because of the block, you can request an account.
Q: You reverted one of my edits. Why is that?
A: Unless I'm reverting vandalism, I usually provide an explanation for my reverts, either in my edit summary, or in a message on your user talk page. There are many reasons for reverting an edit, and each case has its own reason. If you're still not sure why I reverted your edit, you can ask me on this talk page.
Q: Are there alternate ways of contacting you?
A: For wiki-related inquiries, you can also reach me at the following venues:

Welcome to Wikipedia. You have misread my notice and my message. This isn't about me owning your life, but rather enforcing a key Wikipedia policy in that a conflict of interest prevents us from writing an accurate and formally written encyclopedia. For starters, you technically do not own the page. Not even a page about yourself. At the bottom of the edit window it clearly states that "By clicking the "Save page" button, you agree to the Terms of Use and you irrevocably agree to release your contribution under the CC BY-SA 3.0 License and the GFDL with the understanding that a hyperlink or URL is sufficient for CC BY-SA 3.0 attribution." In non-jargon form, it means that any work you submit is no longer yours and you do not own the text, though you will be credited for it. Your work can be reused, modified, or reverted at will and at the discretion of other editors. Secondly, it's a bit harsh to accuse me of "owning your life" when multiple other editors have edited your article as well. They do not "own your life", rather they are trying to build an encyclopedia. If an editor reverts your edit, it was most likely within reason, and my reason was that 1. There were no sources cited for your additions, and as a rule everything that is on the biography of a living person must be supported by a reliable source or it must be reverted, in order to protect the living subject, and 2. Again as mentioned, your conflict of interest is worrisome, and that we generally discourage people from editing an article about themselves or the company they work for. Why do I have to ask your permission to remove things from my own page that I believe weight my biographical material in direction that pleases you? You have misunderstood. Since when was this my encyclopedia? I don't own this website, I am simply a contributor that helps to build it. In short, a volunteer editor and not an employee. And when did this ever please me? I did not make up the rules for conflict of interests or biographical material or citing sources. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia built collaboratively by the people that read it, not by one person or by one person's sole discretion to rule over the website. Excuse me for my english, i'm french. I'm Thibaud, the founder of tttruck.com. We, the track the truck team, a huge interest to food trucks. We have build a tool to help people to find them.

Toy Weapon

Yes i think you made a mistake but not by deleting my correction but by allowing someone to start a page called "toy Weapon" like i wrote in that page a weapon (by Google standards) is weap·on ˈwepən noun a thing designed or used for inflicting bodily harm or physical damage.

Therefore if you use the word "WEAPON" with toy it just doesn't make sense, unless you think inflicting real bodily harm is a game. A weapon is a word with a specific meaning described above, it simply shouldn't be used with TOY. I know words are often tossed around freely like "assault weapons" which can be anything you use to assault someone, but in the minds of many it's an AR type rifle "black gun" I just think it's about time to set the clocks straight and starting here would be a good place, since peoples looks your way to get straight answers. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kobs7024 (talk • contribs) 14:29, 25 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Kobs7024: Wikipedia is not a dictionary, and Wikipedia always writes in a neutral point of view. Your opinions are welcomed, but they just don't belong here on Wikipedia. Recent software changes

On Commons, you can now see what files are most used across all wikis. You can also see the same list for deleted or uncreated files. [1] [2]
There are now many more translations for language names. [3]

Software changes this week

The new version of MediaWiki (1.25wmf1) is on test wikis and MediaWiki.org since September 25. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis on September 30, and on all Wikipedias on October 2 (calendar).
Errors from Scribunto (Lua) are now shown on the page. Before, you had to click on "Script error" to see them. [4] [5]
You can add an "autovalue" for a field in TemplateData. When users add the template to a page, the value will be added automatically. An example is when a clean-up template shows the date it was added. [6]
If you change a user preference but don't save it, it now asks if you want to save it. [7] [8]
The PDF export tool has changed. The new one has better language support but it doesn't offer ZIM and EPUB formats. [9]

Future changes

JavaScript authors: Many old methods will be removed soon. Please check your scripts and gadgets and replace the old methods by the new ones if needed. [10]
