Why Saladin is not an appropriate figure[edit]

Saladin is notable commander of Crusades and a important ruler, but doesn't have other characteristics of a notable figure to add in this portal. He is neither an Islamic scholar nor a religious leader. However I support to add him in Portal:Crusades.--Seyyed(t-c) 12:24, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

He was a religious figure as well - having studied as an Ash'arite, but his military role is most well known. He is widely regarded as an Islamic ruler who restored Muslim rule to Jerusalem and other areas - and he is widely venerated by Muslims across the globe. Oh, and he was a Muslim. So I'm not sure why he's being opposed. ITAQALLAH 18:02, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I suggest adding him in Portal:Crusades. --Seyyed(t-c) 03:56, 3 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Criteria of a Selected Muslim[edit]

These are my proposed criteria for a a Selected Muslim:

  1. He/She should be a notable Muslim in almost all major fields which relate to Islam.
  2. His/Her characteristics should represent many aspects of Islam.
  3. He/She should be acceptable by both Sunni and Shia.
  4. His/Her article should be complete and without any tag.

--Seyyed(t-c) 12:29, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Those criteria severely limit the possible entries. I don't know why we're bringing sectarian issues into this. ITAQALLAH 18:02, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know what do you mean? In my view some articles such as al-Ghazali fit the criteria.--Seyyed(t-c) 03:54, 3 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Proposals[edit]

I think these are good cases for this part:
