This is a list of Croatian mottos. Croatia does not have an official motto.

Mottos[edit]

  • Bog i Hrvati (God and the Croats) – This motto originates from Ante Starčević's speech to the Croatian Parliament (Sabor) on June 26, 1861, in which he stated that the future of Croatia should not be decided in Austria, but by God and the Croats.[1][2]

It is also worth to note that this motto emerged in 16. century shouted by the most heroic of Croatian nobles: "Za dom, sad u boj" (for home now into battle) "Za dom"(for home) and the army would reply: "Spremni umrijeti" (Ready to die) Variations of "Za dom" (For home) is the most patriotic motto of Croatian people, and was used to defend the country by every Croatian force ever since. It is very similar to the American "For home and country" slogan [5]
